222868 Well I grabbed Cocktails & Chloroform and was loving it as I have the other books in the series but did not know it was a novella and was so disappointed when it ended suddenly. It was a great story I was just prepared for another 200 pages I did not get :)

222868 I looked over the new book manager from Amazon and as far as I can see (who knows the future) it is just a way to manage the books you already have and it gives them a way to try to sell you more books with their "recommendations". They will have to do a LOT more to actually replace Goodreads :) It seems like more of a selling tool at the end of the day than a competition to their own product (Goodreads)

Towards the end Dad would take off and the cops would bring him home only because he was a retired State Police but finally a judge said Mom could not take care of him when he wandered off and stepped in front of a car (lucky was no real injury) but they reported that one. They placed him in a hospital about 150 miles away and it took us about a year to get into a place in town. Not a good way to go, he was not even the same person and about the only person he recognized was Mom and 1 of my daughters.

I have read every book in this series and they have all been wonderful but I would strongly recommend anyone interested should start with book 1 to really appreciate how we got here :)

I think the reason I disliked the 2nd book so much was because the first book was SO freaking good and the 2nd book did not really even rise to a 3 star level for me. I was happy when I finished book 1 and was disappointed and really unhappy about the story and the ending of book 2.

222868 Well if anyone would like to read a couple of really good historical novels let me recommend first The Duchess and the Wolf which is not shown but is actually book 1 of a new series and after that from Netgalley or it will be released around Christmas The Governess and the Duke they are both near 5 Star and they have the thing I always require for a 5 Star rating in this genre and that is a touch of humor and since I laughed out loud several times in the second book I may give it 5 Stars when I write the review tomorrow.

222868 The fact that all of the badger books have almost a 5 Star average rating and a minimum of over 5K reviews says there are a lot of crazy people like me that love the insanity.

222868 I finally finished Born to Be Badger and as most of these books I loved it but trying to keep an actual plot straight in my head with a huge cast of characters makes it hard, but I did laugh a lot. The ending was hard to understand and required backing up and rereading a few parts. Overall it was another good badger book and they are like nothing else so it gets 4 stars from me. Since I got it from NetGalley I have to write a review but trying to get somebody to start a book in this universe just is frustrating since I am not sure where I would start since they appeared in the other series first and if you just started cold with this book you would just think it was the ramblings of an insane maniac :)

They are releasing this one and The Wall of Winnipeg and Me with "new content", sounds more like a money grab

I think the first book had a satisfying enough of a conclusion you can enjoy it very well. I could have lived happily with never having read book 2

Exactly, after a exceptional book 1, book 2 would have been a DNF if I had not wanted to see the conclusion which still was a bit unsatisfying. I wanted to give it 4 Stars but I gave it 3 and felt good with that rating.

222868 Well I finished This Cursed Light and I gave it 3 stars. In comparison to book 1 this was boring and filled with useless pages. Sadly, you will think humanity will keep fighting these curses forever if you don't have this book but it is a sad sequel to book 1

One of the best fantasy series I have read and that includes the spin-offs (which were not really pain-offs IMHO). The initial trilogy should be a must-read to anyone who enjoys the genre

222868 Mary Janice Davidson was an autobuy for about the first 7-9 books and then it just went off the rails and instead of being funny with good stories it became silly, stupid and just a total train wreck. I am interested in that Alaska series but don't know when I would find the time to read it. Those early Queen Betsy books were some of the most hilarious books I have ever read.

222868 Currently reading This Cursed Light the second part of the duology which started in This Vicious Grace and I have to say that book 1 was freakin awesome but book 2 looks like it will have a awesome ending but the writing is a bit more boring since a lot of time is spent in things akin to "poor pitiful me" (there is a reason for it but I can't tell you or it would ruin book 1 ) :)

I could have written this :) I read the next one and it was indeed seemingly pages and pages of torture. I have not read another one since it was one of my top series and an auto buy. :(

I only got to read the first one and it was amazing. I have the 2nd book in my TBR but I have to get caught up on my Netgalley items

222868 Well I can say that This Vicious Grace may be one of the better things I read this year and I am SO glad that Netgalley gave me the 2nd part.
