I just had it brought to my attention that 1980 and 2021 are the same number of years apart as 1980 and 1939.
I think I may need a minute to digest that ...

Well I was having a really hard time finding something to read that fit my mood and although
Schemes & Scandals I know is an excellent story I was in the mood for something more humorous and like a miracle I found I had a Jennifer Cruisie book in my massive TBR that I had never read called
Maybe This Time and has made me laugh a few time already and I am only a few pages into it

Well my first DNF in a long time was
If I Stopped Haunting You which has barely 3 stars on Goodreads. There was just too much hate and activism and then throw in a lump of moral superiority all in the first 2 chapters. I had better things to read. (I was trying to do the honorable thing and read the older ARCs I had)

I really wanted to read
The Founders Trilogy Series 3 Books Set but $40 was a bit rich, maybe it will drop one day in the future

Well I finished
The Order of Blood and Ruin and it was really good but now I have to start
Schemes & ScandalsI was not feeling the empathy in those replies LOL
DemetraP wrote: "@Doug: What book are you reading that is too good to put down?"The Order of Blood and Ruin: Magiford Supernatural CityThis is really good but KM Shea is always good IMHO but I want to get to
Schemes & ScandalsFYI: Blood and Ruin are the nicknames for the couple, not a reflection of the story necessarily :)

I hate having a book that is too good to stop reading but wanting it to end so I can get to the new shiny book I just got :)

Thanks HappyBookWorm202..."I will second that thanks, I was not expecting anything in that series so soon after the last novel was just released recently

Real life has been intruding a lot on my reading the last week and I just finished
Disturbing the Dead and it was great, maybe 5 Stars, I will have to decide once I get to writing the review but it was really good and I love this series and the fact that it sounded like something I would NOT like just makes it better :) Well I must write a review and then figure out what to read next.

voting reminder! :)

Well dammit, I should have known better than to start
Disturbing the Dead at 11:35 at night, I read 1 chapter and now I want to read the whole thing. It really is one of the better series I have read in the last few years and the synopsis sounded like something I would hate and I almost did not start it. Now I have to find a stopping place when I don't want to stop ...

I just finished book 3 of the Shadow Knights series that started with
The Last Shadow Knight and enjoyed it but the writing was way too verbose, the story I loved but in book 3 I skipped almost 40% of the book to get to the ending (which was great) but talk about a lot of filler. It was supposed to be a trilogy but I think the success got to the author or publisher and they have 6 freaking books now. I won't be going any farther with it but if you like such things the first 3 books do have a really good story if a bit frustrating at times. I think I am ready to get back to my TBR

I just finished
Sincerely, The Duke which is the 2nd book in this series and it was nothing to brag about, it was enough to hold my interest but it was a lot of silliness and almost looked like she took an outline of book 1 and modified it slightly gave people new names and a few facts and POOF a new book. I gave it 3 stars. I wanted to try something different for my mood before I started the Kelly Armstrong novel and grabbed one out of my TBR called
The Last Shadow Knight so we shall see how it goes
DemetraP wrote: "We're you happy with the ending of Tainted Cup or was it a cliffhanger?"The ending was complete with a couple of surprises but nothing like a cliffhanger. You do get some teaser material that makes you want to read more about these 2. Very well done!

It is no secret to anyone here that as a reviewer I read many books but the mark of the REALLY great ones are the ones you hate to see end and want more, this was
The Tainted Cup and there are more coming but once a year may drive me crazy :) I cannot even describe the book adequately since it had so many twists and turns but the real talent is that as soon as something is revealed you think "I knew that but did not see it" . I have to try to write a 5 Star review now and research when the next book might be coming
DemetraP wrote: "I read a few reviews who said Tainted Cup is like Sherlock Holmes and Watson. In a fantasy world..."She is a bit like Sherlock Holmes in that she is a brilliant if somewhat eclectic but at this early stage of the book he is blessed with a bit of a photographic memory but lacking any innovative thoughts but seems to be coming around slowly :)

Well, I have to say that I was not really wanting to read
The Tainted Cup since it sounded kind of boring but I can see now even though I am only 20% into it why it has about 1300+ reviews and almost a 5 Star average, it grabs you almost from page 1 and keeps you engaged while not only giving you the plot in small pieces but some history and world building while you don't even notice. I am having a busy week which makes it more frustrating trying to get back to the book :)

OK, I finished
Billionaire's Dog Nanny: An Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy and it was good entertainment and good humor. It was a bit light but a solid high 4 Star effort so as soon as I throw together a review I will grab
The Tainted Cup and hopefully find it so addicting I can't put it down just so I can FINALLY get to
Disturbing the Dead :)

Well, I am not sure if I am just a normal book addict or a liar :) I sat down and wrote the review for
Winter Lost and then intended to read
Disturbing the Dead but trying to be an honest reviewer I saw that I had overlooked
The Tainted Cup over 10 months ago so I was gamely going to pull it up on my Kindle when the first thing that popped up was a shiny book I had forgotten about that I got recently called
Billionaire's Dog Nanny: An Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy and thought I would just read a page or 2 in case it was something I should leave on my TBR ....... 2 chapters later I had laughed more than any book in the last several weeks (maybe in 2024) and so my ARCs that I promise to review are sitting gathering dust while I laugh myself into oblivion if the rest of the book is this good.
