222868 I finished Black Hellebore and loved it, makes me want to go back and reread The Brush of Black Wings but I am wanting something a bit more cheap thrills and action so while I still intend to get back to Fourth Wing I am leaning towards a little book called I'm Glad You're Dead: Preternatural Chronicles Book 1 , my mind is a bit chaotic it seems at present :)

222868 Every 2-3 years I get into a reading slump where nothing really sounds interesting (which I know is not the case) since the current book in progress is Fourth Wing which in my head it is a great story that I kind of want to get back to but this usually lasts for a month or 2. I have been binge watching The Rookie and the stories are great but I get so tired of Hollywood trying to present liberal politics into everything and telling us it is all normal (since it is set in Los Angeles maybe it is) but I am in season 3 and reading a article where one of the black actors was killed off at his request because after George Floyd he did not want to portray a cop. I should keep reality out of my entertainment since it usually is disappointing or depressing.

If I wanted to start it do I need to read the original series first?

222868 Well, for now I had to give up The Book That Wouldn’t Burn I was not in the mood for something so alien and somewhat boring so I grabbed Fourth Wing , I mean 300,000 + reviews and pretty much still a 5 Star average it has to be good ..... right?

PS: I just looked and Goodreads has over 2 MILLION ratings to go with those 300K+ reviews WOW

222868 On second thought since I have a few hundred books in my TBR and A Talent for Murder is $15 for the Kindle edition I may have to pass for now (too many free and KU books have spoiled me)

Now you are speaking my language LOL. Actually, I may grab this now since I have not decided what I was going to read and the trilogy I waited 2 years for is not holding my interest.

222868 Stumbled across this in one of the banners on Goodreads and a lot of interesting looking books, I saved the page in my bookmarks for future use

Her early books were some of the funniest things I ever read

222868 I have to say that I am a HUGE Mark Lawrence fan but The Book That Wouldn’t Burn is boring me to the point I think I am going to set it aside temporarily for something with a bit more life in it. Seeing how I waited over 2 years for all the books to come out I feel really disappointed

222868 Yes, all you Northerners need to come get your weather, it's been playing in my backyard for about a week now :) This is Alabama and it's not welcome here LOL

and on topic I am still reading The Book That Wouldn’t Burn and while very interesting the world is so unlike anything I ever read I am having a hard time getting a picture of the world in my head.

222868 For those who are looking for something to read and have a Netgalley account this one looked good, not the kind of thing I usually read but something about the synopsis just sounded good.

The Other Side of Now

(Since I have about 1,000 pages to read from Mark Lawrence, if you get to read it let me know if it was as good as it sounded.)

222868 I am really enjoying The Book That Wouldn’t Burn but thought I would take a minute to make sure anyone who has not read Dustwalker should add it to your read ASAP list :) For me it started a bit boring, I might have even set it aside for a bit but it moved into solid 4 Star territory as the story progressed and even though I really dislike dystopian settings this one captured my attention and I could not put it down but it would have ended as a 4 Star review but she put an epilogue that knocked it into 6+ Star territory and I can safely say that ANYONE who ever read this book will never forget the ending. It is on KU so if you are a KU subscriber it is free

222868 It may be a bit before I come up for air, Netgalley FINALLY gave me the last book of The Library Trilogy by Mark Lawrence and that is a commitment of about 1300+ pages but I have read all of his and only been disappointed with one of them.

The Book That Wouldn’t Burn
The Book That Broke the World
The Book That Held Her Heart

222868 Has anyone read Fourth Wing I was just stumbling around looking for something new and this thing has like 300K reviews and almost a 5 Star average. The fact it and the sequel are both on KU helped with my decision to get it

I tend to agree but you might try The Beast Takes a Bride most people gave it 4 or 5 stars, it was a very slow burn romance with an exceptional ending IMHO

222868 NOTE: Do NOT let your KU subscription expire, I have been so busy with the dogs I let mine expire for the first time since they started the program and when you allow it to expire they "return" all your books and I am not sure which ones I had read so out of the 20 books i had in my KU library I now have 3 while trying to remember what others I had in there.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: At this time the only way you can get a new subscription is on a monthly basis unless you "gift" yourself a subscription then you can do the 6 months or a year at a time.

222868 Off to the vet again this morning, I need to ask my tax lady if I can claim the vet as a dependant. The only thing worse than having a sick dog is having one and you are not sure WHICH one is sick since they tend to leave the little messes when you are not watching :)

222868 Finished The Millionaire Marquess and it had about a 4 Star ending but the book as a whole was 3 Star at best and IMHO should have just been a novella since it spent MANY pages just meadering around and then sex scene that lasted for a chapter or more.
