I agree with Lulu, I'll read
Lionheart.
On kindle, I finally finished
Don’t Stop Bewitching
it is an extension of the Everlasting, Maine series. I like these books they are light easy reads and the regulars are fun to catch up on.
I also read the latest T.S. Joyce book,
Novak Grizzly
These are the daughters of the Damon's Mountain crews. The first book is about Beaston's daughter, Remington, (Remi). I like the return to the original "crews" and their daughters.
On audio, I finished a book that has been languishing on my audio tbr for quite some time.
Cruel Beauty
This is a take on the Beauty and the Beast theme. A 17 year old girl is groomed her whole life to marry the "Gentle Lord" to save her twin sister, her country, and to avenge her mother's death. Any deal with the "Gentle Lord" is a deal with a demon, you get what you want, but not necessarily how you expected it to turn out. I like the heroine because she is clever, doesn't have TSTL moments, and is just a little bit mean herself. As with any tale, things are most definitely not as the appear. Overall, I liked it. There are only behind closed doors sex scenes.

Great Job Diane!!! Yay!! :-)

Victoria.... What do you generally listen to?
The Others series mentioned above by Ann Bishop is excellent on audio.
Written in Red
For crazy contemporary,
Louisiana Longshot
This has a lot of great characters.
I have listened to some pretty good books for free on KU and on the Audible Romance
If you don't mind, why are you cancelling your Audible subscription? I listen to books nearly daily.
On another note, I listened to one of the September Audible Originals,
Emma
It was unusual because it had a cast of narrators and had background sounds. It was more like an old time radio show.
I don't know why but it took me 3 times to get this post written. It kept disappearing on me, and I don't think that I hit anything to make it disappear.

Hi all.... Welcome back Carol, it looks like you had a great time.
I have been listening to my audio tbr and finished
Daughter of the Forest
which I did love. I might wait to read the next books, I liked the main characters of the first book and will eventually get around to their chidren's books.
I have been listening to a free on KU, (audio and kindle version),
Edinburgh Twilight
so far, I like it very much. It is set in the late 1800's in Ediburgh, Scotland, and the main character is a young detective with a tragic past, and the stage is set in the early days of forensic police work. He even goes to the library in search of books on processing murder evidence. So far it is dark and gloomy, just the thing for a rainy week.
On kindle, I also have to get to
A Muddle of Magic
which I too have to review. Lots of good recs here, if only I had more time! :-)

HappyBookWorm... Who is organizing cruises? I really do want the third Kingkiller book. I'm sorry to say that it is sad that the gentlemen are getting all caught up in their fame. I hope that next season of Game of Thrones gives us the answers that we need as far as the A Song of Ice and Fire series. Considering
A Dance with Dragons
came out in October of 2013.
Thanks for posting about Ian's book. I think that Ian and Veritas are a great combo. Just as a side note, the paperback version is $6.47 and the kindle version is $6.99. Not nice publishers, not nice!
On audio I finished the Sookie collection, and have moved on to
Daughter of the Forest
I love Marillier's prose.

I've been trying to clear out my audio TBR and found a collection of stories set in the Southern Vampire series, (Sookie Stackhouse), written by various authors , edited and introduced by Charlaine Harris. It is a collection of stories about various characters from the series written by authors who had told Harris how much they loved her series and all who were excited about writing a story in the Sookie-verse.
Dead But Not Forgotten: Stories from the World of Sookie Stackhouse
It's kind of nice to re-visit some beloved characters.

Lisa... Have a great time. Are you driving to Washington D.C.? Flying? Train? LOL!! I love Montreal!! Enjoy your bucket list trip!

If anyone needs to know how to do italics, spoilers, etc. Just click on the (some html is ok) link above the comment box and all of them are there.
Re: Cross Breeds, I hope no one spoils it for anyone else. I'm trying not to look anywhere.

Wow Lisa you are going to be so close to some of us here on the East Coast. Have a great time & if you have any spare time we should attempt to get together. LAB, CarolB, Elizabeth, CACE, Fang, myself, we're all within a few hours of you on PEI. When are you leaving and how long are you staying?
I can't wait to read
Cross Breed.
I think that there are a few of us still reading this series. We will finally find out who Cassie's mate is.

Does anyone know what the publishing date is for
The Thorn of Emberlain ?
I thought that it was supposed to be released in September. Looking at HappyBookWorm's post about Rothfuss reminded me of so many talented writers who have so many other "side projects" that their beloved series are virtually abandoned. (Hear me Martin, Lynch, Rothfuss, Butcher....)! ;-)

Good to hear that. I got the first 3 books, just to see if I like it. Thanks for the rec!

Something really creepy keeps happening, every time I post, it appears twice. Weird. I have to erase one of those posts each time.

LAB... Don't downgrade your accomplishment. Something like that doesn't come along very often, (if ever). If I were you, I would buy the paperback book "just because".

Whoo Hooo LAB! What an excellent legacy! Congrats! :-)
Douglas wrote: "@Vanessa - Where does this newer Bridgerton series fit in with the other one?"Sorry Doug, I didn't see your post until now. The series that I was listening to is about the generation before the Bridgerton series. The first book is about their father's oldest sister, Billie, and her marriage to the neighbor George Rokesby. It is set in the country, (Dorset Coast, Kent). Apparently the series is about the women who marry the Rokesby men. The first story doesn't have a lot of action but it does have witty banter and a very likeable h and a misunderstood H.
melindeeloo... Don't do it, if you get caught up in the St Mary's series, you will have to listen to them all!!! Ok, you know what I mean. I loved this series on audio, the different character voices make this series for me.

I agree, that's what I love about the cover idea too. A visual list of my year's books. Also thanks for the Y's location. I read the Amid the Winter Snow anthology and forgot all about that place. I really should peruse more of everyone's books and more often.

I think that there would be too much work if I were to erase my books. I would throw up my hands and give up. (LOL)!
I think that next year I will have a post right after my original with my book covers. I love seeing them too. I'm up to around 160 books so far this year, and I still have a couple of months left.

Vinity... I am, (believe it or not), also listening to
Strange Practice
I think that we both chose this book in one of the Audible sales. I'm still attempting to clear out my audio TBR. I just finished
Second Hand Curses
(liked it a lot), and it was part of a sale Audible had a month or two ago.
While on the Audible subject, did anyone take advantage of the monthly download of Audible Originals? I chose only one freebie,
Emma
Tomorrow I am going to the first ever Farm Aid Festival in Connecticut. It should be quite interesting. Has anyone else here been to one? They have a lot of booths set up and there are lots of local family farm fresh goodies to eat.
