Vanessa and HappyBookworm, good to know. I am really looking forward to it. I will likely start soon now that my brain is no longer melted. My oldest kid and I both had covid this lady week and we are just about recovered - not sure if the hubby managed to avoid it, but my youngest bailed and got a hotel since she had it at New Years and didn't want a repeat performance.

I finished the first three books of the series I mentioned (
Supernatural Disasters,
Occult Misdemeanors and
Arcane Felonies) The first book took a bit to get going but ended well and the other two were solid. She's a mess of a newbie mage to start, but she finally figures out things when she's cut adrift from the attempts at formal training and she acquires some interesting allies over the course of the series. She's a PHD student in physics in her former life and actually feels like a smart character. I thought the world building was interesting.

I just read
Supernatural Disasters and I thought it was really good once it got rolling - It is a first book and the leading lady is new to the magic of the world so it takes a bit for her to find her feet. It's KU and there are 5 books so far, I am continuing on to book 2.

Frisco, thanks for the
Bramble Burn rec. I enjoyed it. I am always looking for new KU books too.

In the meantime, DH is home, the “housekeeper” appears to be leavin..."Wow this series is still going. Book 33!

Mostly I've ɓeen reading contemporary small town romances lately. I went through the entire 6 book Bootleg Springs series
Whiskey Chaser - alternates authors Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley and pairs up 5 siblings and a friend while solving an old mystery over the course of the books. These are spicy but there is still enough relationship development even with skimming. The town and the people wete kind of fun.
On the UF front
Shattered and it's sequel were pretty good - a paranormal agency in the background.

Some of you were talking about
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone earlier in the year. It's audible daily deal today in case anyone else is like me waiting for a price drop.
DemetraP wrote: "Exactly. The last few books in the Psy Changeling series have sucked, in my opinion..."The book was just a very neutral 'fine' for me and I completely agree about the romance not being up to snuff.

And the transition into the sex scene in the wrong place at the wrong time, because the h wants to experience intimacy before she might die. This is among my least fav tropes and made me lose respect for the H who is bodyguarding professionally and supposedly a protector to the core. He obviously isn't doing a good job of either, by not keeping his focus in enemy territory.
Also annoying... the leads took so so long to figure out what was happening to the h. It was obvious pretty early on. Could have spent the time establishing the ground work for that on the romance instead. (hide spoiler)]

Vanessa, Happy Birthday fellow July baby!! Hope things are going better for you<3

I just finished the final Lizzie Grace book
Shadow's End. It was a decent ending to the series.
I also read
Finding Mr. Write , Kelley Armstrong's first romcom. It was cute - studly on the surface, nerdy at heart guys are always good leads in my opinion.
Douglas wrote: "Just remember that to keep the confusion down read Soul Taken and Winter Lost in order, I happened to do it by accident and it removed a lot of the confusion"I have to say that I remembered nothing about the soul taker from the previous book.

I read the new Hailey edwards series starte
Fair Market Value it hasvan interesting premise - the lead us a "necromancer" with an unknown pedigree who rents out loner bodies to spirits with unfinished business. It is set in the same world magical of magical Savannah as her necromancer and potentate of Atlanta books.
I also finally got around to the final Heirs of Chicago (Chicagoland Vampires spinoff
Cold Curses in audio and it was a decent ending to the series
Douglas wrote: "Well in keeping with the last few posts :
"Finished Winter Lost (Mercy Thompson, #14; Mercy Thompson World, #20) by Patricia Briggs . Loved it but I was confused. I could barely remember anything ..."I wonder how much I will remember going into this- i did a full series reread last year.
I am also a big fan of Rip through time.
It will be interesting to see what you think of Buisiness of Blood ' I am generally turned off of Jack the Ripper plots - though I did give the first Rip Through Time one a pass on that
Vanessa wrote: "Some of us have recently read "Signal Moon" by Kate Quinn. I really loved "The Huntress" and "Diamond Eye" by her. They were excellent on audio. She's really got a talent for period writing."I really liked Signal Moon. Thanks to those who rec'd it.

I finished
Killing Time. I aways enjoy these in audio - the sheer awkwardness of Jane and Grint at the end made me smile. I've gotten almost as attached to the time police cast as to the St Mary's one. Can't wait for the Lady and Pennyroyal's story.
I also read Kim Harrison's new series starter
Three Kinds of Lucky it was pretty good. The magic system in the world building was interesting. I got it from the library. I will likely read the next one.
Now I am working on the latest soulwood - I was waiting for the audio. So far it's good but I am rusty on the events of the final Jane Yellowrock book. So i need to get back up to speed.

I gave up on the graphic audio The Thing About Weres - I was finding the leading lady's impulsiveness TSTL stressful. So I moved on to the new Time Police instead.

I enjoyed
Hell for Hire (free with KU) It's a new series in a new world by Rachel Aaaron who wrote the
Nice Dragons Finish Last series. I like the male witch lead and the demon female lead who he hired , along with her crew, as protection.

https://www.amazon.com/Signal-Moon-A-......"That sounds good. It's free read and listen with KU

Kristi and Vanessa, wishing you both the best and wishing you husbands the best recoveries. Sorry you all have been going through such difficult times.
