222868 Happy New Year! This year is starting out better so far than last. Last year my youngest and my hubby got covid, this year we've been immersing ourselves in Wicked performances on youtube since we saw the movie on Christmas eve and the 2nd national tour stage show in Hollywood on my daughter's birthday. We were trying to figure out who was starring when my kids, my nieces, my sis and I saw it on the 1st national tour - in 2006!

On the reading front I am doing silly KU books and haven't really found anything substantial to read for the last few weeks. Maybe now that all the Christmas stess is over I can settle down and do a series reread or something.

I just got the notification. Lights! Camera! Mayhem! I was able to buy it for kindle (they also have it on audible)

222868 Thanks for the recs. I listened to a freebie Mr and Mrs Christmas and it was ok - plenty of small town f very little romance. I did also read A Novel Love Story since my daughter checked it out of the library - it was enjoyable but would have been better if the time line wasn't as compressed. It was magical realism with the leading lady stumbling into to imaginary town from her favorite romance series and falling for the broody bookstore owner (who she suspects was intended to be the hero of the unfinshed book that will never be written)

222868 I just finished the latest Miss Fortune book Marsh Madness. I really enjoy these in audio, it is amazing that this series is still going strong after so many books.

I am at the point were I am really in the mood for some hallmark-y christmas romances. Anyone have any suggestions for books or Netflix movies?

I tried a couple KUs but they were a bit more down and dirty and I really would like sweet and swoony.

222868 The third Rip through Time kindle book is on sale for 2.99 Disturbing the Dead. I've was lucky enough to get an ARC of this, and have been enjoying this series. I modern day Homicide detective gets tranfserted back to Victorian era Scotland in the body of a house maid, but the gentleman she works for is sort of a coroner. She shares some of the modern day detection methods to help him help the police solve crimes.

222868 I finally got around to trying this old UF series in audioDead Things - it was fine but a bit violent for my tastes and i didn't like the ending. I got a few more of the books on sale as graphic audios, but probably won't continue rihht away.

On the lighter side i listened to Never Been Witched , I still have a soft spot for Molly Harper read by Amanda Ronconi. This is the third in a series and only in audible right now
and included with plus ' I think. It was cute and a good wrap up for the final witch in a coven of ghost wranglers. I was glad to see her finally standing up for herself.

Now i need another light listen, since I've been sidelined with a sprained ankle from a sidewalk fall - luckily i finished in the grass and not on the cement so I just got my ankle and a skinned knee and not my elbow and wrist

I totally get that. I am mostly sticking to the light side myself and have paused a few books that were too stressful. I wish I had a great light and funny read that I could rec for you as a cleanser, but I am drawing a blank.

222868 I just finished The Voodoo Killings in audio. It has been on my radar since Doug mentioned it years ago and I finally got it in an audible sale a little while back. I thought it was pretty decent- stars a voodoo practioner in Seattle who has a ghost roommate and ends up taking care of an abandoned zombie while trying track down a killer. I liked it and started listening to the second book.

Also there is a new Rachel Aaron book out today in her hell for hire series Hell of a Witch It's set in a different world from her DFZ nice dragon books, but the first was good.

Also out today is Wished it is the final book her ghosted series. I was lucky to get it as an ARC. I liked the different magic foundations for each romance. This one has a cleaning lady wishing to be married to the boss who never noticed her. I like magical elements in my romance and the leading lady is a very sweet person.

Me too! I love the audio version and I hope for more of them too. I did think though that Lady Amelia wasn't quite the same character as in the other series- or I made incorrect assumptions - i thought she was older and a bit more alcoholic. The way she is here is better.
