Kiera wrote: "I haven't bought any books yet this month."Well Kiera, get to it! What are you waiting for? ;-)

So far I've read 227 books toward my goal of 315 books. That puts me at 12 books (4%) ahead of schedule. I think I can still pull it off. I basically just need to read 22 books each of the next 4 months to do it.

Share here the book buys you made this September.

Sometimes, I even just come into my computer room and look at Amazon book shop or even just sit here and admire the books that I own and think, "I have some bloody awesome books."Not crazy at all. That's me to a T. You are definitely among your own kind here. :-)
Tek wrote: "I borrowed an eBook from the library a year ago that I really enjoyed (The Peach Keeper), and then I saw it at a local bookseller for $5 in paperback and I almost bought it to complete my Sarah Add..."I often check a new title out of the library first. Then, if I really liked it, I'll often buy it since I'm a chronic rereader. If it is a series, I'll usually continue buying new titles as they come out from then on.
Tammy wrote: "I use return address stickers, have books in alphabetical order. buy bookmarks. I also keep index cards in my books for when I last read them."I've been tempted to put address labels in my books. The only thing really keeping me from doing so is I've got a over 5000 books I'd have to label. :-)

I find if I like one series by an author I tend to want to collect and read everything else that author writes.

Another order arrived yesterday:

Just got part of a large order of childhood memories delivered:

Do you find from time to time that you've bought a book that you did not plan to read? That you bought it for some other reason, such as just to have a complete series or all the works by a particular author or because it was signed, etc.? I find I like to buy books for all of the above reasons and more. I've bought books in a series that I lost interest in but I still want to have the complete series. And I've bought books by certain authors, such as Dickens and Twain, just so I can say I have them in my library. And I've bought signed books by famous authors that I have yet to read. Do you ever do this for any reasons such as these or any others? Bought just to have rather than to read? More for collection development rather than reading enjoyment?
I've created a poll related to this if you don't mind adding your vote there as well as commenting here. Thanks.

Emily wrote: "I had initially put 20 books, then slowly I've been increasing the goal. the reason I put so little was so I could get through some of my collected works, which is basically ten books in one lol"Emily, you could get around having Goodreads count that collection of 10 as one book by just marking the books in the collected works you've read. For example, if you were reading
The Cat Who... Omnibus 01 (Books 1-3): The Cat Who Could Read Backwards / The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern / The Cat Who Turned On and Off you could mark
,
, and
after you read each one. Just a suggestion.

Went to a book signing last night and got
Biting Bad,
House Rules, and
Biting Cold signed by
Chloe Neill. I now have the whole series so far signed by her! :-)

I couldn't believe it, but I actually missed a purchase in a favorite series two years ago! Somehow I had up to book 23 and I did buy book 25, but I didn't get number 24. Of course, I had to remedy this immediately and it arrived today:

Wow France, nice haul. :-)
