213642 Day 28: Red

My favorite red book is definitely One by One. It's the 5th book in the Robert Hunter series, one of my favorite series. Chris Carter writes serial killers really really well and Hunter is a wonderfully flawed character. Always eager to read it when new books come out, and he just released the cover of the next book though it doesn't come out til next year. :(

One by One (Robert Hunter, #5) by Chris Carter

If I had to pick a series starter for favorite red book, I guess I would go with Heartsick. Though I got sick (no pun intended) of the later books, the first few were really enjoyable.

Heartsick (Archie Sheridan & Gretchen Lowell, #1) by Chelsea Cain

My favorite book with Red in the title is probably NYPD Red. Patterson's books are hit or miss with me, I think it has to do with the co-writer, and Marshall Karp is an author I already enjoyed. The series is about two detectives in NYC who take on the high society cases.

213642 30 Days of Read-a-Thon

Day 30: Favorite Book

My Favorite Book is The Night Circus.

My Husband and I had a conversation today about the ability, or inability to have a favorite book. For me, it's a no brainer. Sure, I can list 10-20 and more books I absolutely adore and love, but above them all, sits The Night Circus.

It's a beautiful book, the circus is so alive and it a book in which I was completely lost to the sights and sounds of the circus. It just was so very magical to me and I adore it more than any other book. I'm not saying another book will never take its place, but it's been my favorite since 2011 and I don't see that changing any time soon. :)

Day 29: Short Book

The first thing that popped into my head when I thought of Short Books was the Gamehouse series. While there are other short books I like, this trilogy of 100 page books really caught my attention when I first read them.

The premise behind the books is that a game is being played out. But instead of a game being played out on a game board, the world itself is the game board. In the first book, The Serpent, a game is played out set in a city. In the second book, The Thief, a game of Tag is being played out in a country. In the last book, The Master, a game of Chess is being played out in the whole world.

I found these books to be very unique and very very enjoyable. I loved them all, though the first one was my favorite of the three. A different and enjoyable trilogy that I wish was a series!

213642 LOL!

Monday! Definitely Monday. So we don't have to wait too much longer, and I can start to share stuff about this crazy challenge. :D
Sep 22, 2017 12:34PM

213642 Oh yay, I'm glad you liked Olympics specifically. :) I was actually thinking I need to do a version of the page jumping challenge like from Olympics, since we did the title relay. Just been thinking about how to best make it badassy. :)

Hopefully everyone will like Evo. I like it, but I'm a bit biased. :D I actually kept having to make myself not give out info this week and wait til next week. I kept wanting to talk about it. :D
Sep 21, 2017 07:07PM

213642 Yay!! I'm so glad that you are liking them!!

Our brains are all wrapped up in Evo at the moment, but we definitely have more planned, it's just a matter of getting them fleshed out and putting them up. :) We have one that we've had on the back burner for a while now (actually mentioned it a time or two, but didn't put it out) that is gonna be quite tricky and we're having problems just coming up with examples on how to explain it.

We definitely have the crazy brains working! :) Hopefully everyone will love Evo, cuz it's pretty detailed, and it's only just really started. :D

213642 Do you have any brothers or sisters? How many?
Biologically ~ 3 half sisters & 1 half brother. Realistically ~ they have nothing to do with me, or me them.

What was your favorite subject in school?
None. If I had to pick, I'd say "Peer Counselling" cuz we didn't do a damn thing for the 3 years (I think) I was in it.

How did you meet your spouse / girlfriend / boyfriend?
Jesse and I met our junior year of high school when we sat with a mutual friend at lunch time. We were best friends, then drifted apart and didn't see each other for 7+ years. Then I found Him and we've been together ever since, Oct 4th will be 13 years that we've been "back together".

What are your top three favorite books and why?
The Night Circus ~ because it is a beautifully written book. If was the one and only book that I really felt like I was there. I love it very very much
That one was easy, the other two change, it depends really, so today I'll say:
The Martian cuz Mark Watney is probably my 2nd favorite character of all time. He's sooo funny and awesome, and I adore him!! (My all time favorite character is in the Night Circus).
The Shadow of the Wind cuz it's a beautiful book about the love of books.

What’s something most people don’t know about you? What’s something you wish everyone knew about you?
Ha!! Most people don't know the biggest things about me, only two people in this group know "me" and only two or three more know me IRL. I wish everyone knew me sometimes, but it's better if not.

If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?
Widget (my gaming PC), my Kindle Fire, my Ipad Mini, a laptop (if/when I get a working one again) and my colored pencils.

Have you ever danced in the rain?
Yup. A memorable time was walking/dancing/kissing in the rain down Main Street in the MK. Everyone but Jesse and I were under cover in the shops and we were just walking down the road in the pouring, and I mean POURING rain. :) It was a good day.

213642 What do you think you cook or bake the best? Can we have the recipe?
I'm only an ok cook and I can't bake at all. My best thing lately is a slow cooker Chicken Ranch thing. It's sooooo yummy!

Where is the most beautiful place on earth and why?
Disney Parks, Disneyland if I had to pick, because they are just magical.

What’s under your bed?
Nothing. Our bed is ghetto and sits on the floor

How many bones have you broken?
Just a finger

What’s the best way to comfort you when you’re having a really terrible day?
Let me have space to read or play video games. A snack helps. :)

Which famous person would you like to be best friends with?
Dick Van Dyke. I think he's about the most awesome person in Hollywood. :)

213642 Yes, that's fine.
Sep 18, 2017 06:18AM

213642 We have it set up so you all can post your rewards to your thread. If you are unsure about it, or don't want to, we certainly can, but we made it so you can so you can move 'em around and display them how you would like to.

There's info on how to do that in This Thread.

As for redeeming them, we suggested the first few posts of your toy box thread be for showing the ones you redeemed. So say you used a BARCy Bite, you could put (in the actual challenge) that you used the reward then in your toy box, you could move the redeemed one to your redeemed post and state what you used it for and when.

Hope that makes sense? Not really awake yet, so LMK if it doesn't. :)

213642 She (Caly) does as her own Tasks, to get it to count for her own for one Task, which she said she was going to read. She mentioned doing the 3 cover, then any of the 1 book tasks as she doesn't want to do the 4/5 books for one.

But her reading just the Cloak one for the Completed Criteria works perfectly, as far as opening up the Next Chapter. She doesn't have to be the one to contribute the other 2, as at least 8 members need to read 12 tasks.

Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott has all 5 words, so that's a good one. :)

I'm still looking. Have all the others but cauldron a 2nd time (if I use Rotherweird for Phial).

Also have something for all 3 of the Cover titles and have, so far, 2 of the Title ones. So I can cover whatever, if y'all let me know what. :)

213642 The second scenario, not the first.

8 members do not have to read EACH of the Tasks individually. All of the Tasks just have to be covered by at least 8 members. I'd do a Title Task, you'd do a Cover Task and so on.

That's for the Completed Criteria. Individually, to consider those Tasks done, each member must complete the 3, 4 or 5, (if they do one of those tasks) but for the Completed Criteria, all the tasks just must be done by at least 8 members.
