Holly wrote: "I only just joined the challenge, so I might finish, but I'm just hoping to read as many as possible. Will there be a new challenge at the beginning of next year?"We typically do one every year.
Tom wrote: "I thought the same. A few of the challenge books are like that - like All the Answers and Tetris. I can access them via Comixology once purchased though."That's good to know. I'd rather use comixology's app than the kindle app on my ipad.
Tom wrote: "I found the digital version on Amazon."It's weird that it would be on Amazon but not Comixology as Amazon owns Comixology.
Has anyone else had trouble tracking down Judge Dredd: America? I couldn't find it on hoopla, comixology or my local library. Is it per chance collected in another Judge Dredd book? All of these Judge Dredd collections over the years are impossible to figure out a reading order or even what's in the collection.
Mike wrote: "AGH! I need to finish Chew. I want to do a full re-read of the series before I read Volume 12... "Same here.
Holly wrote: "I just picked up the first volume of Chew without knowing the premise, but I haven't tried it out yet-I just see it on a ton of "read-this" lists. The art makes it look pulp/noir style. Is it worth getting into?"Chew is very good, but it's not really pulp. It's a bit goofy with quirky art but highly enjoyable.
Kait wrote: "I can't update Mike's original post, but it's on his radar to do that."Mike's getting married. This can wait until his life settles down.
Kait wrote: "Kara's new pick is Hellboy: The Chained Coffin and Other Stories. It's technically published as volume 3, but it's an anthology.
The goodreads page is here.
I can't update Mike's original post, but it's on his radar to do that."
Awesome! Thanks Kait. And I just read it last month!
Holly wrote: "I sound like a freaking salesperson right now, don't I?"You should hear me when I get on my soapbox about how great Valiant comics are. You'd think I work there.
Holly wrote: "What's Marvel Unlimited like?"
Marvel Unlimited is just comics, but a lot of comics, over 15,000. New comics show up about 8 months after publication. It sounds like it's a similar experience to DC's app, except you can't use the TV.
Kara wrote: "Aaaaah! I'm so sorry they moved the schedule, I'll update my pick to something available now!"Any word about picking something else out Kara?
Holly wrote: "I lean more towards DC than Marvel, but I'm not one of those "you-can-only-like-one-publisher" people. With that in mind, I adore DC Universe. Their self-produced shows are absolutely stellar and the comic selection is finally up to par (as you mentioned).I want to say the majority of their comic catalog is available except the very, very new stuff. :) "
Thanks for the info Holly! I read comics from both Marvel and DC as well. A good comic is a good comic no matter who publishes it. How is the app for reading comics on a tablet?
Now I just need to explain to the wife why we need to spend more money every month for my comics. Maybe I can sell her on the TV shows. We watch all the CW ones.
Holly wrote: "Right now I need to finish up the Geoff Johns' Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) run, which I was really enjoying, but then they uploaded the concurrent Green Lantern Corps series to DC Universe (which I completely throw money at), and then I had to go catch up, so I'm kind of in the middle of both of those...somewhere!"How do you like DC Universe? I've been contemplating joining for awhile. It finally looks like they have a good number of comics (in line with what's available on Marvel Unlimited.)
This is excerpted from my review. This is the slowest of slow burns. If visions of old barns scare you, this may be the book for you. Lemire borrows heavily from a TV show that used to be on SyFy, Haven, whether intentionally or not. Sorrentino's art is gritty and real, even as it gets more surreal and fantastical. It's very good.
I've read the first 2 trades. The series does pick up steam as it progresses, but it still is taking a long time to get anywhere.
OK TO AIR
Ed wrote: "Daniel wrote: "...Prez..."If you like that, you should like Mark Russel's take on the Flinstones and/or Snagglepuss."
I'll second those recommendations.

Welcome Holly. Those are some great comics you listed. Locke and Key is one of my all time faves. I'm excited about the new imprint Joe Hill is doing for DC.
I've read most of the Eisner winners already and I'll say Mister Miracle was one of the best comics I read this year.
Kara wrote: "Aaaaah! I'm so sorry they moved the schedule, I'll update my pick to something available now!"Thanks Kara!
Tom wrote: "Would it be possible to replace Place Tectonics with something that's actually out and available now?"I concur. I can tell you right now I won't be rushing out Dec 3rd to get this book just so I can finish this list before the end of the year.
FYI - I Read Comics did an interview with the creator of Heathen, Natasha Alterici last fall. http://www.ircbpodcast.com/this-is-no...C'mon Mike, it's like I'm doing your job for you. ;)
I saw Paper Girls has been picked up by Amazon Prime as a TV series.https://deadline.com/2019/07/paper-gi...
