193869 I really liked it as well and I'm a dude in my forties. I thought Usdin did such a fantastic job of capturing what's it's like to be a self-conscious teenager. She so perfectly captured what it's like to have a crush and not know if the other person is just being nice or is into you as well. I was so haplessly lost when it came to girls during high school.

And then on top of that, she also tapped into what it's like at that age as you discover new music. To discover that new band that completely blows your mind to the point where you're just putting an album on repeat for hours. I still remember hearing R.E.M. for the first time in the back of the bus on the way to a Cross Country meet my freshman year. It was like hearing music made just for me for the very first time. I was enthralled.

No reason to apologize. I just thought that my first reaction was funny.

I saw this and initially thought "Why is Tom bragging about playing Tetris?" Then it dawned on me that you were talking about the graphic novel.

Ends on Feb 14th!

I edited my post to add dates. Thanks for the info on the Kodansha comics. I know nothing about manga, but it seems like a very good deal.

193869 I remember liking the comic and Gerard Way's writing in general. It was like a weird version of the X-Men if I remember correctly. I read it over 10 years ago. I like what Way has done with Doom Patrol. It feels like an extension of Morrison's run.

I had no idea though that Umbrella Academy was getting a TV show. I'll check it out.

Hoopla allows you to rent comics digitally through your library.
193869 It looks like we're finally getting Y: the Last Man on TV.

Besides the artwork by the incredibly talented Ross, I thought that looking at events from the eyes of the people that live in NYC was an nice change of pace. It also raises a lot of questions about what it is to be human in an era of superheroes, which was interesting to me."

Marvels is one of those comics I find myself revisiting every few years. The book is written in such a unique perspective and Alex Ross's art is just incredible. He captures these classic storylines of the Marvel universe and looks at them from this all new perspective, that of an onlooker to the event. It's still one of the finest comics ever made.
193869 Francis wrote: "I haven't read any of Hit Girl so far, would it be worth picking the Kevin Smith arc alone or would it require reading the previous issues to really get what's going on? "

My understanding is that each arc is self-contained, like Legends of the Dark Knight back in the 90's.
193869 Francis wrote: "I just downloaded issues 1-6 of The Woods by James Tynion IV, I got it through my local Library app, and as far as I can see those are the only issues available, so if it's really good I'll need to..."

It's really great. I'm not sure if it's still there but it used to be on hoopla.

That Colombia arc was terrible. Probably the worst thing Millar's ever put his name on.
193869 Ross wrote: "I loved the Dresden Files I had no clue there was a new series! This is awesome

Ross, Storm Front is an old comic adaptation of the first Dresden Files book. Dynamite re-released all of their Dresden Files stuff in 2 Omnibuses a few years back. They are worth picking up if you are jonesing for some new Dresden Files content. I just picked them up myself. Besides adaptations of the first 2 novels, it's all original content.
193869 Anthony wrote: "Aren’t they gonna relaunch Transformers sometime soon?"

Probably. IDW's relaunched Transformers a few times at this point. It makes their books impossible to follow.

I thought Pretty Deadly was terribly confusing, especially Rios's art in this second volume.
193869 Anthony wrote: "A friend recommended The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. Finished the first trade and it is great. L.A noir, old Hollywood murder mystery. Moving on to book 2. "

I don't think Ed Brubaker has ever written anything that isn't great. When he teams up with Sean Philips which he does a lot, they make magic.

Anthony wrote: "Also, new to this, how do you reply to old posts? Lol "

You just hit the Reply button in the lower right of the post.

Kait do you know if this is available for iOS? I couldn't find it on the app store.

Wow, that's a really complicated and mostly unnecessary reading order. Except for the few crossovers between titles you can just read a title from beginning to end.

Have you ever read Locke and Key? That gets my vote for best horror comic ever.

Hi Douglas. Another goodreads friend! Are you guys stalking me? Are we talking OG West Coast Avengers or the current series? The OG title was the only comic I ever subscribed to by mail. I never got another one after an issue showed up ripped but man did I love that series.
