193869 I went to a new comic shop tonight (The comic book shop I had been going to shut down last week. They obviously weren't getting even half the weekly comics after walking in this new store.) and snagged the first 6 issues of Five Years. I'll probably reread SIP before I venture into those though.

I've tried beginning with the new 52 but felt like I was missing too much history. I'm now starting with post Crisis (Batman Year One, Man of Steel, etc) I've already read a few of them, so this feels like the right course."

The New 52 was a complete reboot coming out of the events of Flashpoint so you didn't really need to know what came before. Rebirth merged the New 52 back in with the post Crisis universe. It's all very confusing in that but it's a good jumping on point. It's a good jumping on point. What's currently going on in the monthly books with the Source wall and the dark universes is all very confusing. I think it's easiest with DC to just follow the characters you like and ignore the rest.

But if you have any questions or need some suggestions, feel free to ask. I've been reading DC and Marvel books since Crisis came out in original issues. And no offense to the IRCB podcast, but anytime they delve into comics history older than 10-15 years ago, they typically get it wrong. It makes me wish I could be their fact checker before they go to air.

193869 I just finished Rachel Rising and picked up SIP in single issues when it came out. I thought both were fantastic.

193869 Today I read Rachel Rising Vol. 1-7. It's a kickass story. Terry Moore is a creator everyone should read.

Hi Sarah,

I used to live in Rochester, MI. Are you into comics too or just your son? What kind of comics does your son like? I'm all for encouraging younger comic book readers.
193869 Almost there. One more book left.

I do have a request for next year. Can we make sure all the books on the list are published and in print? Maybe even just that they are on Comixology or something like that? A few of the books on this year's list were really difficult to find. I had to track down used copies to read them.

I should be good then, I've read all the comics. I'll watch the rest of the series when I have some time to catch up.

193869 I haven't started watching Batwoman yet. Do I need to watch all of them first before watching the Crisis episode?

One of my first comics was a spooky X-Mas issue of X-Men with Kitty Pryde being chased throughout the mansion by the N'Gari.

193869 I read quite a bit in the last few days.

193869 I'll nominate Gunnerkrigg Court, Vol. 1: Orientation
https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/
It's a series that reminds me a lot of Harry Potter if JJ Abrams had gotten a hold of it.

That's a good one. I'd forgotten how awful he is. It's a shame his creator turned out to be even worse.
