189072 Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for January 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions. This discussion is for a brand new category called BOOKSHELF CATCH-UP.

This is a catch-up book club, after all. For this category, you can nominate any book that the group has previously read. For a list of books that the group has previously read and discussed, please see the bookshelf.

I'll start off by suggesting a group read that I personally missed - Dune by Frank Herbert.
189072 Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for January 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions. This discussion is for the CLASSICS CATEGORY.

As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1969 and before. If the book you wish to nominate was published in 1970 or after, please make your suggestion on the Modern Classics/Popular Reads thread.

Will start off by suggesting Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut Jr..
189072 Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for January 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions (can you BELIEVE it's almost the new year?!?). This discussion is for the MODERN CLASSICS/POPULAR READS CATEGORY.

As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1970 and after. If the book you wish to nominate was published 1969 or prior, please make your suggestion on the Classics thread.

I'll start off by suggesting American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.

***PSA: Due to my inability to count, The Golden Compass or Northern Lights by Philip Pullman is automatically in January 2018 BOTM polls. Thanks!***

we did read Small Great Things a few months after it was released, so might be considered a "blind read" as you suggest for this Hiddensee: A Tale of the Once and Future Nutcracker.
