I think I gave this two stars for the language too! I was appalled at how this book felt like it romanticized sexually predatory behavior. Stalking and grooming vulnerable young women isn’t romantic or healthy.

I recommend Me and White Supremacy; Combat Racism, Change the World and Become A Good Ancestors by Layla Saad, When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir Book by Asha Bandele and Patrisse Cullors.

I second The Giver, The Vegetarian and How to be an anti-racist

I second The New Jim Crow

I second Americanah and the Bluest Eye

I second Age of Innocence, invisible man and Around the world in 80 days

I second Their Eyes Were Watching God

I second Flowers for Algernon and The Left Hand of Darkness

I second A Man Called Ove and America Gods

I second Dark Matter and Jane Eyre

I second Beloved, Catch 22 and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

I first read this when I was 10 or 11. It was definitely a favorite book, I could really empathize with a grumpy heroine. I reread it in my 20’s and am looking forward to reading it again!

I think I’ve seconded this already, but if not, I second Sense and Sensibility

I second A Wrinkle in Time

I second Little Fires Everywhere

I second Day of the Triffids and Tess

I second Dark Matter, Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre
