I thought that some of the flashbacks could have been left out of All the Birds in the Sky ...or at least had them closer to the beginning rather than having them be in the middle of the story. I just felt that it detracted from the main plot & at times left me confused because the author doesn't really make it clear that there is a flashback occurring so I kept thinking how does this relate to the part I just read.
I also enjoyed how Wood wove history into A Woman of a Thousand Secrets. I like the idea of doing your own research - I didn't even think of doing that :) is it helping you to understand the book a bit more?
As for the August book - I was leaning more towards Apprentice Assassin but I will probably end up reading both so if you guys wanted to read both too that'd be fine with me :)

Ok so I also finished All the Birds in the Sky & I have to say that it was a pretty good book but I enjoyed Woman of a Thousand Secrets more. I just thought that All the Birds in the Sky could have been shorter & still not lose any plot...but that may just be me. :)

Yes, good luck with your assignments Erin! :)
Here are my picks for next month - if none of these interest you I can put up a few others :)
Up High in the Trees Assassin's Apprentice Fear Nothing or
Darkly Dreaming Dexter

Congratulations on becoming an aunt! No worries on taking your time with reading it :)
I'll probably pick up another book from her for sure :)
My plan is to just use the first few on my to read shelf - I'll post the books tomorrow for you guys to choose from :)

I finished it & have to say it was amazing. Thank you guys for introducing me to this book - I definitely wouldn't have picked it up myself :)

I just wanted to let you guys know I will most likely finish the book tomorrow - I can't seem to put it down. Soooo much has happened! I have to say that I don't like Balam (have you guys been introduced to him yet?) & can't wait to see what happens to him in the end. I don't want to ruin anything for you guys, I just wanted to say you should definitely read it - it's soo good! :-)
I'm also going to try to finish All the Birds in the Sky too - that's also pretty good but I'm not as far in & therefore not as invested, yet.

How was everyone's weekend? How far along are you guys? Some stuff has gone down that i would love your thoughts on but I don't want to spoil anything :)

I thought that scene was a bit rushed but I agree that he totally deserved dying that way. I'm liking it and can't wait to see what happens next. It's a lot more exciting than I was expecting to be honest. I want to know more about Brave Eagle... have you "met" him yet Karen?
I also started reading All the Birds in the Sky - that's pretty interesting so far... I've only read the first chapter & part of the second.

I'm up to chapter 13 & I have to say I don't like One Eye... he's another one asking for trouble lol

That's really weird... mine has the chapters starting on separate pages.

So I read the first couple chapters of Woman of a Thousand Secrets during my lunch break & I have to say it's pretty interesting so far.
I also got All the Birds in the Sky and hope to start that tomorrow. I'm so close to finishing the other book I got through the library ebook program - "The Enclave", which is awesome by the way :)

So I've got good news!! I just received a call from my library and I can pick up Women of a Thousand Secrets tomorrow after work (they close too early tonight for me to pick it up). So we can start reading on the 15th :-)
I'll probably still read All the Birds in the Sky when I'm able to get that later too.
Thank you again for being so patient guys :-)

I hope so too... I double checked and I guess there's still one person ahead of me for All the Birds, but I'll definitely let you guys know when I get them. I hope it's soon too. My plan was to just catch up so feel free to just start reading on the 15th instead of waiting for me :-)

Oh and Erin good luck at uni! & how is the 4th book?
And Karen, I hope you got some sleep :-)

Hi! I'm good, thank you. I'm not sure when I'll get Woman of a Thousand Secrets... I'm hoping within the next week, but I should be getting All the Birds on the Sky soon - I'm the next one in line. I'm so sorry this is taking so long guys :-(
In the meantime though I've been reading Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult & so far I'm loving it but as usual it's about a tough subject. I'm also reading an ARC called Still Here which is kind of slow at the moment.

I agree with you completely on reading those fun, light hearted & easy books every so often. I think it allows us to just reset mentally to then read a more involved book again. I'm glad you're liking it though.

I personally love the snow, but I've grown up in it. Living in NH I get it all... but I have to say the winter is my favorite time of the year... I get to go skiing & snowboarding, plus what's better than curling up with blankets, hot chocolate and a book? hopefully this winter will be better than last year's though - we barely got any snow this past year.
I still haven't heard anything on either book but will let you know as soon as I do.
I'm really enjoying the two books I'm reading right now. I hope you're enjoying yours too Karen... it definitely looked interesting... which is why I added it to my to read shelf lol :)

Apparently I'm an idiot... I was only looking at ebooks so I just put in a request for inter library loan for Women of a Thousand Secrets & I still have the request in for All the Birds (sorry im on my phone & forgot the title) so I'll let you know which one I get first, if that works for you guys? I'm so sorry about that... I haven't used a library in so long & with ebooks & the different websites I got all confused. I'll let you know though :)

Will do.
Thank you, Happy 4th of July to you as well! :)

Kristy do you think you can get the book by the 16th so we can start ..."I'm not sure... I already put in the request so I'll let you know as soon as I get it.
