Marie Kelly, Kidnapped the Wrong Sister

So I just saw a breakdown the other day that explained that every electronic file we buy (books, games or music etc)... Is not BUYING, but is RENTING. This means that the owner - being apple, amazon etc - have the right to withdraw our RENTED items from our data storage units, therefore leaving us without the the books, music, apps that we have paid for. And yes, as they are only RENTING said items, they are operating within the law.

Most likely iBooks, but there is a vague possibility of amazon
- the father has daughters all over the shop, because he has been trying to have a male heir for years with little success.
- she was from his wife and she does have a younger brother who is unacceptable to her father as there were complications at birth which caused him to have strokes, and blinded him from the get go.
- she was unwilling to be 'sold off', but dad used the brother as collateral, forcing her to go along with anything he wanted
- because the brother is SHAMEFUL to him, the father has kept his existence from the world.
- the new guy is aware of the fathers plans to make him her baby daddy, and isn't interested with the fathers plans... but he is interested in the girl.
- his best mate works for him (security I think), and they come as a package deal. MFM
- he convinces her to forget about the father and just be theirs... she says she can't because of her brother. The two guys basically kidnap the kid and then brush off the dad.
- the girl notes that her dad would be furious if the baby was fathered by the best friend as the father is so set on his grandson being 'of society', he missed the memo that his baby daddy choice is actually adopted.
- she is a severe asthmatic
- the brother is 6-7 years younger than her, and because their mum died while giving birth to him and dad will allow no one to know of his less than perfect son, the girl raises him herself
- there are surprises of sisters and about mum throughout.

Emma Mills, Witchblood

Again, don't think this is the light hearted type you're looking for, but Katherine Kerr, Daggerspell (Deverry Series) is all based around magic and reincarnation.

Deborah Harkness, The Discovery of Witches. Love the storyline and characters. Book 1 & 2 are long but great. Book 3 is the final of the trilogy and is very long... and a bit of a cop-out IMO. She's obviously sold it as a trilogy and has to wrap it up as such... but the storyline and characters were too big and needed more, so she appears to have tied little bows on each of them so she can either, just add to the story later, or create spinoffs as needed. Again, still love the characters and storyline, just frustrating as hell that she and her editors didn't get their shit together.
Surprisingly - cause I love witches - they are the only ones I can think of right now. Will keep an eye on your thread tho to see what everyone comes up with :)

Like all the other books I've looked for here, this one turned out to be sitting on my 'Crap' shelf. Once someone here found these books for me, I'd re-read them... and they'd be Crap! I was begining to think there was a reason forgotten books should be left forgotten.
Thankfully, EoD was not crap at all, so it has been upgraded.
Thanks again.

I do have that book in my shelves. Will have a look.

Have you asked your library to show you a list of recently borrowed?

Sophie Summers, This Broken Beautiful Thing

Janet Evanovich has her Stephanie plum series. The first 12 or so books are hilariously funny, with multiple bad days for poor old Steph. The rest are still ok, it's just that she forgets to advance the main plot.
Perfection (above) is good too. Both the R.L. Mathewson series are good, with probably a fair few of her h's coping a lot from all comers.
Not sure if these are 'he type' of bad days you're looking for... There are some pretty rough ones in them.
Bridal Bargains: The Tycoon's Bride / The Purchased Wife / The Price Of A Bride
And lots of bad days thru most of Marie Kelly's books. Her earlier books are edit-aly challenged, but still good characters.

Oh, and don't be put off by the movie. As per the usual... They BUTCHERED it.
