185 It's not Fog Magic, is it? Some of your details don't fit, but it does involve the girl finding a cabin in the woods & going back in time. It's also old enough, being published in the 40s originally (it was reprinted later, especially by Scholastic, I believe)

edit: also, if you're still looking for this book, you might want to check out this listopia.
185 This is a kid's book, right? Do you remember what year you read it? Also, do you remember what time period the girl visits?

You might want to take a look at this listopia. Your book may be on there.
185 I'm seconding Emily of New Moon. It's definitely one of my favorites :]
185 When did you read this? Also, is this a YA book, or for some other age group?
185 Found a few possibilities (as far as I can tell, these are all kids/YA horror books set at theater camps):

Curtains
How I Survived My Summer Vacation (or any of the other books in the Camp Haunted Hills series)
No Time to Die
Night Of The Goat Boy (#23)

Also, you're sure this took place at a summer camp, right? It wasn't just a school play? Just wondering because I could find lots of books where the school play is Macbeth, but (so far) I can't find anything about a summer theater camp. I can keep looking though :]
185 It sure sounds like Castle Tourmandyne. If not, a little while ago I made a Listopia on this subject (haha). It could be on there.
185 I'm trying to find a short story I read for a class in 2006. The professor gave us a photo copy, so I didn't have it in a collection of short stories, so it could have been from anywhere. I forget exactly what the name of the class was, but the theme was surreal or weird fiction (most of it from the mid-1900s though, as far as I remember). I read it in 2006, but it was probably a few decades old - I'm not 100% sure of that though!

The story was sort of surreal/horror. I remember it started out normally enough, but it became strange by the end. It's about a man who kills people (maybe one person, maybe more, not sure) and wears their skin. I believe the skin actually becomes part of his body. As far as I can remember, the sort of fantasy aspect of him becoming that person/fusing to their skin happens sort of unexpectedly near the end - up until that point it seemed realistic.

I don't remember anything else unfortunately. If someone recognizes the story from this description, that'd be awesome! Sorry it's not a ton to go on (I hope there aren't too many skin-wearing murderer stories out there though, haha) Thank you!
185 Was this a historical romance (or Western romance)? Or not in the romance genre?
185 Link to The Door by Jacklyn O'Hanlon.

Sounds interesting! I want to read it now :]
185 When I was in the LibraryThing version of this group this was definitely one of the books people most often tried to find. I guess it really stuck with people!
185 Do you remember if it was a historical romance or more literary fiction?
185 Yay! I'm glad you could find it! I guess the problem is that the girl's bulimia is supposed to be a secret so it's not included in any of the plot descriptions. I feel like I should make an account at whatsthatbook.com so I can help that other person too (seems like lots of people are looking for this book!)
185 I think I found it! Wish, Come True by Mary Q. Steele.

Someone was also looking for it here, so the person who found it has some good plot descriptions.
185 The part about a magic ring reminds me of Edith Nesbit's The Enchanted Castle. Let me see if I can find other kid's books with a magic ring :]
185 I found a possibility, but I'm not sure about it.

Dead Gorgeous by Malorie Blackman

A lot of the descriptions from people's reviews seem to fit, but no one mentions an eating disorder. The plot description does say "Soon, Nova begins to piece his tragic story together. But she's hiding a secret of her own - one she's desperate to keep from her family. And now Liam's found her out . . ." So that could be a reference to an eating disorder, but you'd have to read the book to find out I guess (or find a more in-depth description)

EDIT: On Worldcat someone's review says "Another teen book about a eating disorder. This one's also ghost story." This seems like this could be the one!
185 I found someone on Yahoo Answers looking for the exact same book!

This is really random but I remember listening to a children's book on tape at least 8 years ago now and it is beyond annoying me that I cannot remember the name of it. Basically it was about a girl (I think her name was Rain, or Rainbow or something 'different') who had an older sister who she envied (I think her name was Star). Their mum had an interesting name as well because their father loved it and gave the girls interesting names (because he named the girls and the mother named the boys). I think it was set in a hotel somewhere on a coastline, because the main character starts to see a ghost (the ghost fo a boy) who's body they later find in a cave on the cliff face (and he's put to rest and disappears). It's the ghost boy who helps the main character to accept and talk about her bulimia which she starts to deal with aided by her sister at the end of the book. I only really remember a few scenes which were the main girl binging on food, her making herself sick in the hotel toilets, her seeing the ghost boy for the first time out in the garden, and her finding his body. I know this is so random and I can't imagine anyone will know the book but I thought it was worth a try (I've tried googling various things already) as it is annoying me an unbelievable amount. Thanks for any help,
Update : It wasn't perfect or any of the books that came up on amazon when i searched for children's fiction, bulimia :(

185 The Street Dancers, Broadway Chances, Curtain Going Up! ?

edit: found a more in-depth description on Publishers Weekly http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0...
185 That sure sounds like it :] Hopefully Emily will see this!

And depending on where that description is from, maybe someone can update the Goodreads description (in case someone else wants to look for this book one day!)
