Was this a YA book or more adult book? When did you read this? Also, do you remember what consequences the girls faced later in the book? Also, were there any supernatural/paranormal elements, or was it more realistic?

The plot is sort of different, but Wait Till Helen Comes is a kids' book about a family living in an old haunted church.

If anyone is looking for a YA take on this, I have a few suggestions! All of these are basically teen Downton Abbeys set in the 1910s (and might not be of the highest quality, haha)
