yep, I have a copy of High School Pusher and the MC's name is Zan, and there's the scene with the wallet. Very graphic and edgy, like all of Jack W Thomas' books.

My Sweet Audrina? It came out in '82 and doesn't match exactly, but pretty close and was the first thing that came to mind. And it was one of those books that EVERYONE was reading back then.

Was it some kind of alphabet book, perhaps? Kind of sounds that way, with the eel-egret-evil conversation.

Long shot, but maybe the Hamilton High series by Marilyn Reynolds?

Sounds a little like The Probable Future. I don't think the supernatural powers match up exactly to what you described, but it's about a family wherein all the women have different "gifts."

Maybe the Boyfriend Club series? It has a character named Roni and is about a group of HS friends.
