185 Yay! You're so welcome. Glad I could help. :)

BTW - you were a lot closer to remembering the title of your lost book than I was! I could have sworn mine was called Runaway (and spent years searching that title) - when it was really Coming Back Alive. LOL.
185 Hmm, then maybe A Wild Thing?
185 Escape from Tomorrow? The GR page has no summary, but I found this description on Worldcat: "The result of an experiment producing a deadly form of water threatens to destroy the world."

from user review on Amazon: "The book is about this red glob that is one piece of powder that when it hits water it gets bigger and bigger. It got bigger and bigger and it rained. So it got bigger and they had to bring the army in. Well that did not work so one of the people in the city took electric shocks to the glob that worked but it rained again and did not work. That night it snowed and went away as snow flakes."

ETA: the Google books summary: "folks try to escape an experiment that will destroy the world with red jelly."
185 I just moved this back to Unsolved. Sorry, I missed LG's post back in October.

To throw another guess out there: Choker by Elizabeth Woods has a similar plot but I can't remember the ending.

Also Identical by Ellen Hopkins - I don't think this is your book but you might also enjoy. :)
185 Just in case you're misremembering facts: Coming Back Alive has a similar plot, except the boy and girl run away together, live in the woods, fall in love and (view spoiler)

She doesn't actually get pregnant but there's enough talk about how she *might* that I actually misremembered that she HAD gotten pregnant. (This was MY lost book that I spent years looking for, so I figured it was worth suggesting.) :)

185 Hi Chanda, sure you can post links. It's preferred, I think, to link to the GR page so the OP (or anyone else who's interested) can easily find summaries, reviews, cover image and can add it to their "read" or "to read" shelf. To do that use the "add book/author" link above the comment box.

Unless there's been an upgrade I missed, I don't think you can do this from the mobile app, and anyway, it's not required. One of the mods or another member can always add it like I did. :)
185 Chicken Soup for Little Souls: The Never-Forgotten Doll for the link to Chanda's suggestion.
185 Happy to help! :)
185 This is written by a man, but the Wall trilogy by Robert Elmer? The first one is: Candy Bombers is set in 1948, the last one: Smuggler's Treasure is set in 1989.
185 Longshot - sci fi, not historical or fantasy, but there's a boy in a cloak pretending to be blind: Truesight

185 And you may want to check out the sequels:

A Year Down Yonder

A Season of Gifts

185 A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck, for the link. I'll move this thread to solved. Congrats on finding your book so quickly, Brooke!
185 Flipped for the link
185 I don't know if this is the one I was originally thinking of, but I think it's the one OP is (or was) looking for:
Head Hunters
185 Gah, yes, that's ringing a lot of bells. I think I might even have found this one for someone...or at least something similar. Let me stew on it for a bit.
