185 I sent a message to Kate. We really want the OP (original poster) to post a new message confirming the title and author of their found book.
185 Lila is still looking for this book:

"Book about a fantasy island across the sea, an old man and strange boy paired together.

The only thing I remember clearly from this novel is that the boy gets a little sick after something, he doesn’t wake up so the old man tries to wake him up with lots of sweets that he gets from the shop nearby. It’s set in a seaside town. Other characters include two sisters who gossip a lot. And at the end of the novel, the boy and man travel across the sea to find the treasure (?)."
