I was born in London, England, and I moved to Canada in 2003 when I fell in love with a Canadian. We live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which took a while for me to learn how to spell. I have four children, a girl and three boys.

My first novel, Life on the Refrigerator Door, was published in 29 countries, won several awards and was named as a New York Times book for the Teen Age. My second is called Lost For Words in the US, and The Worst Thing She Ever Did everywhere else. It won the Arthur Ellis Award, was shortlisted for the White Pine and Willow Awards, and was published in eight territories. 40 Things I Want To Tell You is my YA book publish

On a plane, a man started talking to me and he made me intensely nervous. There was something mysterious and creepy about the way he kept asking questions. He insisted on driving me to my hostel but when I got off the plane I hid from him in the bathroom, trembling. I wonder what would have happened if he'd found me? Probably nothing--but the vibe he gave off was really bad. The idea of what could happen if a different path was followed was the impetus for my new YA novel, Me and Me, where the main character has to choose which person's life to save. I find that lots of writers like to think about what might have been--and this character gets caught up in two lives because she can't make the choice. (less)

Me and all the appliances. Our #stovetop stopped working a week ago (for any of you who know how many stoves we’ve been through, the answer is I DON’T KNOW WHY THEY KEEP BREAKING or why they take so long to be fixed….) Multiple kids and their friends and our friends and the occasional teenager and many meals made on the griddle/instapot/eaten cold later, I’m just about ready for the #longweekend t

Beautiful and compelling. Jeanette Lynes has a poet's voice, and she uses it to take us through the lives of three main characters through one devastating tragedy to another, via the quiet tragedies in between. I loved it.
