It's from 2009 and as I pointed out earlier, they didn't include white and intersectional feminism, something I think they really should have done. I don't doubt that there are subdivisions, but I haven't looked into the different kinds of feminism really, so I can't say anything about that.

For sure, we can change social facts, if only enough of us work towards it!

Here is a definition of the different feminisms according to my book from sociology:
liberal feminism: Root of inequality of the sexes is the restricted access to civil rights and certain social resources, such as education and work. The solution for them are reforms in law, which grant the individual rights.
postmodern feminism:
No general explanation. Differences between men and women as innate and not socially constructed are declined. There are different forms of truth and knowledge.
radical feminism:
the difference of the sexes are caused by the male authority in all aspects of the social and economic life.
black feminism:
the diverse disadvantages of gender, class and race (ethnos) that coin the experiences of non-white women. They refuse a general gender-oppression, which oppresses both white and black women in the same way, and argue, that the early feminist analysis represents the specific interests of white middleclass women.
socialist feminism:
the belief, that women are treated as second-class citizens in a patriarchal capitalist society. Both the experiences of women and the inequality in the possession of production facilities have to be overcome, because the oppression of the woman lies in the economic system of the capitalism. Socialist feminsts critizise the understanding of class that some gender-insensitive socialists have.
I still pity it that they didn't include white feminism and intersectional feminism.

I've not been so quick to answer to this post, although I'm very interested in gender studies; I just did not have time to watch the videos and wanted to do so, as Savannah asked, before..."
Wait, I don't want to be rude, I quote what I think is problematic:
"I think that all human beings (men and women) have a color pallet they can use to express themselves that don't need to make them believe they need to be something else (such as wanting to be a different sex just to express themselves)."
"I think the % who actually want to have an amputation would be a lot lower if we simply recognized that 'women' and 'men' not some left side or right side of things, but only biological differences."
It's not about biological differences, it's about how you feel in your own skin.
"I think that a mental illness would be "I am actually a women" when you are physically a man. I is illogical and if they truly believe this to be true, I would consider it a mental illness to believe that they need to be a physical woman when they aren't."
And what do you do with intersex persons? Not to begin with that you yourself said that body and mind are two different sets, and not linked to one another.
"It is insane to believe that one is a physical women when in reality one is a physical man."
*speechless*
"So clothes, actions, perfume, colors etc. make a woman a woman? Nope, it is her vagina! That is it!!! "
That one is not only transphobic but also interphobic.
And Savannah, don't you think you're transphobic too, when you compare body dysmorphic disorder to transsexuality?
Please, think about what you write before you post! Sorry to come off so rude, but when I read such comments, I get so frustrated, so angry, so sad all at once.

Maybe some of these books are good to read as well, all written by Asian-American authors:)

Me too. It's so amazing, how everyone sees something else in it:)

If you educate yourselves, there is nothing wrong with it. If you want to do more, the time will come!

I haven't read the paternity leave section et, but can say so for the other sections.

Autographed by the author? Lucky you:)

All you can do is give it a try, Coralie!

Now, I find it horrible that you are stereotyped because of how you are treated by society. But could you please not commit to transphobia, because that's what you do in that comment.

I have watched the first and some parts of the second video and I don't think I will learn anything interesting from reading the articles. The problem is that both - the Catholic preac..."
Nice said, Sascha.

Oh, and I think we should keep religion out of this.
I agree with Eternal - we can choose our roles, we don't need to survive in tough times like our ancestors did, medical treatment is really great these times, as well as our working conditions among others.

And they call themselves feminists... White feminism is really a problem, because it is so exclusive and to not be brown enough, black enough, white enough (whatever colour you take), is simply racist. I won't ever speak on poc's behalf, unless they told me to do so and taught me about their issues. EDIT: But I think using examples is okay, because how else can you show them that you see their struggle, that you want to help them. It's important not to talk over them, but with them.
Bunny wrote: "I think it's really important not to assume that just because I've had certain experiences with being shut out or dismissed as a woman that means I automatically understand other forms of oppressio..."
Oh Bunny, what a delight to read a post from you, again.
I can assure you, it's also the other way round. One needs to talk to the people to understand them.
Overall, I come back to what Gloria Steinem said: Double discrimination means double the work!

I really appreciate all the work that you do, moderators, it must be lots!
