I, for myself, don't have a real connection to my private parts, for me, they just exist. But I can also understand how women who have vaginas have this strong connection to this specific sexual part. Some intersex individuals reclaim the word "hermaphrodite" or, this other German word "Zwitter", to rob the words of its hurting components. But only they are allowed to do so, and it is hurting if a unisex person uses these words. So, I understand how women with vaginas using these words to reclaim their autonomy and agency:)
To be honest, for me, woman and man are social constructs, and for me, gender is a spectrum instead of two opposing ideals. I don't have a solution for the vagina celebrating part, without being exclusionary to all the humans who identify as women and don't possess a vagina much. It's not just about trans* folks, but also intersex folks.
I think although we need to address the wrongdoings done to our anatomy, if we focus only on this, we actually forget that there is more that makes a woman than her anatomy.
I feel a bit at unease with the "pussy grabs back" signs, because it was, in my opinion, exclusionary to human beings without pussies, and there are many who are really worried because Trump is a real threat to them.
But then, if we make feminism only about women, I think we miss a chance to really be inclusive and also to really change issues.

I didn't feel ashamed, more from a male's perspective, it being similar to: And finally I get to know women better:)
Hm, I don't know, in high school pupils probably would have laughed and bullied me, had I read such a book. But just because they were jealous, or too much pushed into this shame and oppression corner.

If anybody has questioned it, these are exactly my thoughts Robert. It's upon her and if she doesn't feel ready, then it's upon her to decide when she's ready.
I'll read it either way!

I have to agree with you again, James. I think she still has to learn about the LGBTQIA+ community, and more about poc and the mental health issue from my point of view. I don't say that's bad, because so have I.
It's up to her, and if she doesn't feel ready for it now, it's a good decision to still wait some time.

I can only agree with you James, 30 diaries is amazing! And she uses different diaries for different topics, it's just awesome.
I also really appreciate that she herself says that she has still a long way to go, hey, she's not a Gloria Steinem... yet:)

It is, in fact the clitoris' only purpose is sexual pleasure. It's also called the women's penis, because they both develop from the same anlage. It's just that the penis grows larger, but that's more or less it.
Uh, the vagina plays a vital role in giving birth, but it is definitely related to sexual pleasure, I'd say:)

Don't worry, we're not here to work:)
I'll watch Ashwin's TED video now too!

She's still so young!

I found a Youtube link, so I share this one with you:

Now, what's wrong with your environment? You have the freedom of speech, and you are entitled to share your opinion. I don't think it's offensive if you say that this "this pussy grabs back", especially because it was a man who talked about all of you in such a derogatory way. As long as you remember that not all women bleed once a month, and not all women have the typical inner sexual parts, what's wrong with it?

I just loved watching it, I couldn't agree more with them, even the doctor, although I hate doctors.
Tell me what you think about it! Write me a PM or here, but I'd just like to know from somebody else:)

Opportunities are goals! And for young ones to decide to go a certain way, we need representatives. *Grr* It's so difficult!
I definitely second you here that we act in the way we have seen it when we were little, I see that with myself too.

Wise words, Ross! I actually talked with my mum about OSS for the last hour or so. She seems to not quite grasp it, but at least she knows that we're diverse in members and book choices, and that we want to change the world for better. One step at a time!

I'll be looking forward to discuss issues with you, just send me a PM:) Don't feel bad, there are many who just think about the typical female body, excluding Inter* and Trans* persons. The important thing is that one doesn't refuse to believe in the struggles of them, when they have learned about them.

You're right, it's so sad, if she educated herself she'd know that we're still second-class citizens so to say, and what is bad about changing that. And you can't make yourself equal if you suppress others, feminism can't be against men, in it's very nature!

The people discussing are:
a gender-non-conforming student at Yale
a trans* person
a doctor (who is actually progressive - kudos to him)
a psychotherapist
two parents of a trans* person featured in the movie
Georgiann Davis (shame on me she's the only one I know by name, but then, intersexuality is sort of the thing I'm interested in the most, when it comes to the MOBAI community, Georgiann is an assistant professor in sociology and intersex activist)
and there's also a representative of ACLU, the organisation who right now helps Gavon Grimm, whose case is to be heard in front of the supreme court in mid-march, as far as I know)
It's really worth watching and listening to it, especially for those who are quite unfamiliar with the topic:

Fera, don't worry about the 'doing' part. When you educate yourself about feminism, it comes along. Now, I'm glad that you enjoyed this book and learned from it. I also recommend you to read the book we read last January, My Life on the Road, because it will give you a whole new understanding of what feminism is about.
I only have one plea towards you: Please note that not all women have a vagina, and that not all people who have a vagina identify as women. But if you want to talk about gender or sex-ed, just PM me, I'm glad when I can help:)

I totally agree with you Laure. Just because there are women candidates does not mean that we have achieved our goals.
P.S.: I'm sad that Baptiste deleted their profile, they could have learned so much.
And I' here to talk with anyone, I LOVE discussing feminist issues, don't feel afraid to send me a PM, since I only get notifications in the topics that I have written earlier.
