176204 Hello Holly, welcome to GR & to the group!

The other group hasn't been active for quite some time I think, but we are! We have a monthly Tijan book read and we have two active challenges that have none Tijan books. There are Polls open right now to choose next months books if you want to vote :D
176204 I see.. Maybe it is the whole "it is a series so i will leave the ending not an ending at all" kind of thing?
If you still thinking about it then you should continue the series. Maybe things resolved or changed or both!
I will have a better view when i start this though :)
176204 Yeah on Amazon as well :D

Since there was only one nomination I will be adding the rest at random to fill out the poll.
176204 Hmm interesting. You gave it 4 stars but not continuing? How far back did you read it? What was it that turned you away? Hero, Heroine, Writing etc?

Personally I had seen this when it came out in 2015?2016? and bought the ebook cause a friend wanted it. Now its also on KU to which I have a subscription and I thought it a good time to try this.

Havent read anything by this author yet though so I am excited to try!

Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh"

Hey Puna!
Sorry, but your nomination doesn't fall within the months' theme, which is "Dragons". The "Guild Hunter" series revolves around "Archangels, Angels, Vampires, and the Guild Hunters".
So that nomination won't be considered unfortunately. You can try again with a new one that is suitable to the theme though :)
176204 The whole series is amazeballs! I am currently on Book #8.5 and love every single one this far. ♥

The theme chosen for June in The Auxiliary Challenge was TIME TRAVEL.

The winning book is: Just One Damned Thing After Another (The Chronicles of St Mary's #1) by Jodi Taylor

The Auxiliary Challenge (2018): Rules & How To

Just One Damned Thing After Another

"History is just one damned thing after another."

Behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary's, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don't do 'time-travel' - they 'investigate major historical events in contemporary time'. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power - especially given their propensity for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet.

Meet the disaster-magnets of St Mary's Institute of Historical Research as they ricochet around History. Their aim is to observe and document - to try and find the answers to many of History's unanswered questions...and not to die in the process. But one wrong move and History will fight back - to the death. And, as they soon discover - it's not just History they're fighting.

Follow the catastrophe curve from 11th-century London to World War I, and from the Cretaceous Period to the destruction of the Great Library at Alexandria. For wherever Historians go, chaos is sure to follow in their wake....

Piper Jones can't catch a break.
After a lifetime of animosity and indifference from the supernatural community, she thought she'd finally found a home with the vampire king’s enforcers. Then the dark and mysterious Merc walks into her life, and it takes a disastrous turn for the worse.
Now under attack by enemies both known and unknown, Piper has little choice but to flee her refuge—and start over in a place few vampires ever go. Rural Alaska seemed to fit the bill, except for Knox and his crew of werewolves. The pack shares a connection with Piper that few of them can explain, and none of them can escape. With time running out for answers, Piper must fight the demons of her past to ensure her future—or die trying.

It's not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It's definitely the SIZE of the boat too.

And I've got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big c*&k.

You might think I'm an a*&hole. I sound like one, don’t I? I'm hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.

Guess what? You haven't heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.

The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.

And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?

BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely…

Atlanta would be a nice place to live, if it weren’t for the magic…

When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it arose, leaving all kinds of paranormal problems in its wake.

Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up these magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles.

The Masters of the Dead, necromancers who can control vampires, and the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shapechangers, blame each other for a series of bizarre killings—and the death of Kate’s guardian may be part of the same mystery. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way out of her league—but she wouldn’t have it any other way…

176204 Its not about being an author Brend its about being a decent human being. She just destroyed her carreer in one go. The Romance community is huge and it is against her. All her "reasoning" is baseless and stupid. *shakes head* She will get what is coming her way

176204 Get a load of this:

"Author" Faleena Hopkins, also writting as Sabrina Lacey, trademarked the word "Cocky" and is sending out C&D notices to other authors threathening to sue them out of their lives if they don't change their book/series titles.

Here is a Twitter thread of author Courtney Milan explaining the whole situation in plains speak

And here are two articles about this:
Cocky Writer: Romance Author Faleena Hopkins Trademarks 'Cocky' and Tries to Shut Down Others Using the Word
Cockygate: Faleena Hopkins Has Registered a Trademark on Cocky, and is Using it to Threaten Other Romance Authors

Of course people are not happy and she is gonna get her behind handed to her.

I am putting her in my "Not just no, HELL NO" list.

What do you guys think about this?
176204 It does right? This is a prequel series to her The Parasol Protectorate series.

"The Finishing School Series is set in the same world as The Parasol Protectorate series, only 25 years earlier, and features a finishing academy located in a giant caterpillar-like dirigible floating over Dartmoor."

I haven't read anything of hers yet and haven't read The Parasol Protectorate series either but it is in my TBR. It is a good oportunity to start the universe :D
