The summer before my senior year of high school I had only one goal: to make Alden Warner see me as more than his best friend’s annoying little sister.

Finally, my wish came true and he noticed me. In a big way. Too bad that the next morning he had no memory of our night together, leaving me heartbroken, and as I later discovered…pregnant.

For the last four years, I’ve been rocking the single mom thing, making sure my daughter comes first. In fact, everything is going fine—until Alden storms back into my life, as my new boss.

His reappearance wasn’t something I planned for. Add my nosy, meddlesome three-year-old and an overprotective brother, and I’m obviously in way over my head.

My only hope now is that I can sway Alden to see things my way…but you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Fate can't hold all the cards, not if she doesn't have any fingers.

Mission objective, to kick the dragon leige’s ass and take back what she’s stolen
. Or maybe take back what she’s stolen, and then kick her ass? Either way, they’ll be some ass kicking.

Getting answers means recon and lies, coercion and revelations. It means jumping through several hoops, like infiltrating a maximum-security government quarantine facility to break out the inmates.

Wila will do whatever it takes to get her Kindred and her draconi prince back, even if it means venturing into a place of nightmares, a place of everdark and monsters with not a pot of tea in sight.

The darkness awaits, and Wila better hope it doesn’t swallow her whole.

A kick-ass Urban Fantasy with a slow burn Whychoose Romance.

Theme for February: Reverse Harem
Book that Won: Charcoal Tears (Seraph Black #1) by Jane Washington
Auxiliary Challenge (2019): Rules & How To

“You see, there is safety in simplicity… in a life of simple peace, where the electricity doesn’t dance across the backs of my eyelids, and the sparks don’t slither over my consciousness. Only asinine peace, where my paintings don’t seem to paint themselves, leaving me with terrible feelings of premonition and a chill beneath my fingernails.”

Seraph Black used to think that she was prepared for anything. She could last days without eating and she always walked away from the violent altercations with her father relatively unharmed. She survived working at the club and the drive to school every day in her mother’s rust-bucket of a car… but it all changed when Noah and Cabe came bulldozing into her life, careless of the precious secrets they picked apart in their quest to take over her world. She was even less prepared for the mysterious Miro and Silas, and nothing could have prepared her for the bond. The connection. The reason for it all.

Someone wanted her to stay away from her new friends, but she wasn’t willing to do that.

Everyone had secrets.

She wanted to know theirs. They wanted to own hers.

And the stalker?

He seemed to know everything already.

Blurb

Daughter of a controlling mother, Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking at a nightclub and allowing a strange man's seductive Russian accent lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever.

Twelve years later, the woman known as Abigail Lowery lives on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she designs sophisticated security systems -- and supplements her own security with a fierce dog and an assortment of firearms. She keeps to herself, saying little, revealing nothing. But Abigail's reserve only intrigues police chief Brooks Gleason. Her logical mind, her secretive nature, and her unromantic viewpoints leave him fascinated but frustrated. He suspects that Abigail needs protection from something -- and that her elaborate defenses hide a story that must be revealed.

With a quirky, unforgettable heroine and a pulse-pounding plotline, Nora Roberts presents a riveting new read that cements her place as today's most reliably entertaining thriller -- and will leave people hungering for more.

“911. What is your emergency?”

Every night, Zara Llewelyn picks up the phone and assists people in distress. House fires. Assault. Motor vehicle accidents. Home invasions...

Between the hours of six and two, she is the answer to a thousand cries for help. But when the payphone outside Zara’s apartment building mysteriously begins ringing night after night, the very last thing she wants to do is pick it up. And yet, she can’t seem to help herself...

Pasha Rivin’s trying to outrun fate. He’s been running from it for years now, but escape isn’t in his cards. As the oldest son of the oldest Roma family in the country, he’s not just a member of a proud and fiercely traditional clan. He is their reluctant king...and now he’s expected to find a wife.

The fiery redhead that shows up on his doorstep, following a trail of breadcrumbs, hunting for a missing little boy, is the last person Pasha’s mother has in mind, however.
She’s an outsider, an intruder, and as far as his family are concerned, she’s not welcome on their land, let alone in their king’s bed.

Pasha has never allowed his destiny to stand in the way of what he wants, however. And he’s never wanted anything more than he wants the girl with the burning green eyes.

***

Zara Llewelyn picked up the phone and learned a secret.

Zeke Daniels isn't just a douchebag; he's an a**hole.

A total and complete jerk, Zeke keeps people at a distance. He has no interest in relationships—most a**holes don’t.

Dating?
Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for him.

He's never given any thought to what he wants in a girlfriend, because he's never had any intention of having one. Shit, he barely has a relationship with his family, and they're related; his own friends don’t even like him.

So why does he keep thinking about Violet DeLuca?
Sweet, quiet Violet—his opposite in every sense of the word.
The light to his dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit.

And that pisses him off, too.

A Brief History Of: I created this challenge in 2017, to start the following year. I wanted to reinvigorate it and this idea popped in my head. I got some minor aspects from another group I am a member of, my very first group here in fact, and moulded everything into this.
2018 came and went and it was decided by you all that we will continue with it for 2019.

What It Is: The Auxiliary Challenge will see the group take on books chosen by set parameters/themes with complete freedom as part of the Group Reads.

We won’t just make a schedule/list of books like normal people though, oh no. We will do it like the crazies do it (which is the only way to do things) and you will help out to make the challenge your own.

How It Works: Each month we will give you a set of parameters/a theme, you will suggest books based on those (not something you have already read), the suggested books will be put to a poll and the one most voted will become next month’s reads. Each book choice will have its own discussion thread each month.

If there are “left over books”, meaning too many from previous poll(s), then we will pool them together for you to make a choice.

You can start each book whenever you wish within the year, although it is recommended to start it within the month it was chosen. You can finish it whenever within the year.

• You can only suggest books you haven't read yet •

You can make a special shelf for this if you want but it is not obligatory. There will be a token challenge in the Challenges, so if you decide to make a shelf go declare it there.

You will have one (1) week to nominate a book and then one week to vote

Clear? No? Ok let me give you guys an example:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Suggest one book for the given parameters/theme:
• A book with a purple cover (⬅ Parameters)
Person 1: Trickery of the Gods by Jaymin Eve & Jane Washington,
Person 2: Nomination
Person 3: More Nominations
• Time Travel (⬅ Theme)
Person 1: Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor
Person 2: Nomination
Person 3: More Nominations
Gather all suggestions to a Poll. Vote. Two most voted are in next month’s Reads. Too many books with high votes? Save and use on later months.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

•• The Challenge will start on January 1st, 2019. The actual suggestions and subsequent voting however will be done in December. ••

If you are wondering why I decided to go with that method of selection it’s simple: It gives everyone the opportunity to suggest their many different books that have somehow something in common. As mentioned above this is what I took from the other group I participate in, not in quite the same way we do it though. It allows people freedom.

Tracker is located Here
