174195 Woke up this morning to a lot of progress! It's nice having such a diverse group of time zones on the team.

I'll mostly focus on pages today, though I am working on a book by a person of color in case it is needed when I finish. I still have another 250 pages to go, though they move fairly quickly.

174195 I finished The Lost Man which counts for the country I've never visited prompt, so we should be covered for those two books even if counting Kathy's book us a little bit of a stretch. I have a little reading left in me, but will update my pages in the spreadsheet before the day ends!

Happy Friday/nearly Friday, Butterflies!

174195 I just borrowed Tokyo Tarareba Girls, Vol. 1 for a manga book prompt on another challenge. Given that one of the first few pages has a panel with a sign congratulating Tokyo for hosting the 2020 games it can definitely work for the Olympics prompt.

The place really isn't specified, but it's about the author's love of books and the author is from Engla..."

It is illustrations based on her experiences one would imagine, and imagine further that many of those experiences were in England, so i would tend to think it works. :) It also looks like a fun little book!

I have 100 pages left in my Aussie book for one of the couuntey prompts, so expect i can wrap that up tonight.

Maybe we missed the hype in Australia! I haven't heard of her book either!"

I was going to say I didn't recognize the author either... then noticed the book mentioned is on my TBR so at some point I must have heard of her!

That sounds fun (and like a much better idea than reporting to work tomorrow) - I'm jealous! :) As to the reading, sounds like it could be good timing!

I want to say we filled the previous bucket around 5ish hours ago?

It definitely moves very fast - and fun, but I think your idea that having more pages required before moving to the next bucket could definitely ease the pressure a bit of worrying about the timing of when you finish books.

This is only my second readathon with a team challenge involved and this one is very different from the last one. The mods to an amazing creative job coming up with all of this!!

Also, I think One of Us Is Lying came out in 2017 and I've seen a lot of book buzz about it, so it could also go for that.

Is anyone working on a book in a country they've never been to? I have about 200 pages left in mine which I think is doable tonight. I do have have another Australia based book at home I could start on tomorrow if we don't have another one underway.

174195 Agreed! Emily, you are doing an amazing job keeping us reading butterflies organized! :)

Make sure we have cleared Bucket 15 before you finish The Lost Man!"

Goodreads likes to add some extra challenge to the challenge!

I definitely will check in before I finish and hold off on the end until needed! EDIT: nevermind because we're already ready for the next bucket - go team! I will work on The Lost Man as soon as I get home from work tonight!

After The Lost Man, I also am working on With the Fire on High which would work for author of color if we still need it then.
Jun 13, 2019 11:57AM

174195 I think I'll *likely* be able to finish The Lost Man tonight (California time) and I've never been to Australia, so that would work for that.

Edit: I also should be down for the shelf sort and 414 pages on 6/12 (all of which were in the one post that probably just got missed in the shuffle). :)

174195 So since we have two books for summer and only need one, I did also see my book Into the Drowning Deep mentioned in the threads in this group for monstrous characters and mentioned as being gripping and suspenseful which I took to be a recommendation since I like that sort of book. Do we think that could count for a recommended book and then Ellie's Field Notes on Love could cover the summer prompt?

I think the Goodreads Choice is a good option to narrow things down!

174195 6/11: 305
6/12: 414

174195 I finished Into the Drowning Deep for our based in summer prompt.

My reading total for 6/12 was 414 pages.

I did the shelf sorting prompt.

For long titles, I agree it would be good to get a mod determination on subtitles counting or not. I have one book option (Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come: An Introvert’s Year of Living Dangerously) that would work for 20 letters without a subtitle involved, but I have only read a few pages into it. I'd likely quickly be able to finish On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft as it is a pretty quick read and I'm well into it.

174195 Hi all! I should have Into the Drowning Deep done in the next couple hours for the summer primpt.

I have recommended books I can read, but not anything I'm close to finishing so if anyone else is closer, that would be great.
Jun 12, 2019 11:43PM

174195 Im down to only 50 or so pages in my set in summer book, some of which I'll get done on my way to work in the morning, so it will be a quick finish once we get to bucket 14.

I'm working on The Lost Man which would work for a country I've never been to. I could potentially finish by tomorrow night if it is needed and definitely by Friday.

I'll do my page count check in in the morning.

Mars Room would also work for the NASA prompt... lots of Mars related mission names.
