Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I used it for prompt #3 A book you are prompted to read because of something you read in 2019. I gave it 4 stars. I enjoyed it. I was a teenager during the period the book was set in.
The other book was Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips. It is set in Russia on a very remote Siberian Peninsula. The story is about the kidnapping of sisters told over a period of time by women connected to the plot. The connection can be through location or anything really. I felt like the book was comprised of short stories or vignettes. Location is as much a character as the people involved. The writing is beautiful & the book is unique but I was mad for a while after reading it. I gave it 3 stars but almost changed it to 2 stars. I don’t know how others feel about the book. I used it for prompt # 16 a book set in a rural or sparsely populated area.
I’m currently reading The Mirror & The Light by Hilary Mantel. She is a great writer. Rather I read a sentence, paragraph,or page I’m instantly hooked. I do back up a lot to reread something to make sure I got it right. When I finish I can probably count this as a reread. There are several prompts I can use it for. Will choose after competition.
