This week, from February 10-18, you and your teammates will be collecting beads. You are able to collect as many from each color as you'd like, but make sure you are adding pendants to your beads!

Q: Can books overlap between the main Around the Year challenge, the Winter Reading Challenge, and the read-a-thon?
A: Yes, absolutely! Some of the tasks are designed to be easy for you to fit in books you’re planning to read for ATY.
Q: Can a book be used for more than one read-a-thon challenge prompt?
A: Each book can only be used for one prompt in the read-a-thon individual challenge, but you are welcome to use them for the group challenge if you are participating in that as well.
Q: Can books started before Feb 10 or in progress on Feb 18 be counted?
A: You may count a book started before the challenge begins as long as you read at least 100 pages of the book on or after Feb 10. You must have completed a book by Feb 18 to count it.
Q: Does this book count?
A: There is no prize attached to this read-a-thon challenge, so it's your challenge, your rules. I'm looking forward to seeing how you choose to interpret your king cake connections!
Q: Can I do a prompt multiple times?
A: Yes! If you find a flavor you like, you go for it.
Q: Can you use books in both the individual challenge and the team challenge?
A: Yes, the two challenges are separate and you can use books for both challenges.
Q: How long does a book need to be to count for the Individual Challenge?
A: Each book needs to be a minimum of 100 pages (or 100 minutes of audio).

It's time for our individual challenge, and I hope you brought your sweet tooth! King Cake is a traditional Mardi Gras pastry made of brioche dough and stuffed with a variety of fillings (my favorite is pecan praline!).
For our individual challenge, you are "trying" a variety of fillings, from traditional to more unique, along with finding the baby in your cake slice!
For more detail on king cakes, check out this link: https://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/h...
Cinnamon: A book with a "plain" cover
Strawberry: A book with a fruit on the cover
Bavarian Cream: A book set in Europe
Blueberry: A book where something sad happens
Pecan Praline: A book whose title starts with a letter in PECAN
Cream Cheese: A book with a predictable ("cheesy") plot
Raspberry: A book in a genre you don't read often
Lemon: A book featuring a villain POV
Chocolate: A book featuring a restaurant or shop
Bananas Foster: A "sweet" book
Savory: A book where someone breaks out of their routine
The Baby: A book featuring a family conflict

What do I have to do to participate?
If you are interested in participating and can commit to actively engaging in the read-a-thon, then please sign up in the comments below. We have chosen the categories so this group activity is fair and fun for readers of all speeds.
Please only sign up if you can commit to checking in with your team (on Goodreads) at least 5 times during the February 10-18 schedule.
How many teams will there be?
It will greatly depend on how many people sign up and how much they think they will be able to read. We are targeting 8-10 people per group.
QUESTIONNAIRE (This helps us sort teams!)
1. What is your availability this week, and how many books do you anticipate reading during the Read-a-Thon?
2. Which time zone do you live in?
3. Can you commit to checking in with your team frequently during the read-a-thon?
4. Are you interested in being a team leader for your group? (i.e. keeping track of team totals, needed tasks, updating spreadsheet, etc. -- We aim to have two captains per team so you can share the responsibility.)
