174195 As for January, I'm hitting the Tournament of Books shortlist pretty hard.

The Hanging City (Week 1 Prompt, Buddy Read)
Big Swiss (Week 2, TOB)
Chain-Gang All-Stars (Week 3, TOB)
What You Are Looking For Is in the Library (Week 4, TOB)
The Shamshine Blind (Week 5, TOB)
Interesting Facts about Space (BOTM pick for January)

And then... whatever else I happen to pick up. January is usually a good reading month for me so fingers crossed that trend continues!

174195 My friends tell me I'm a bit ambitious with my goals this year, but I figure I can always scale back if I need to, and I'm willing to overlap a lot.

174195 I'm not seeing it Nike. Unfortunately, with so many people on the spreadsheet, sometimes things get accidentally deleted or moved around... looks like that might be the case for yours. Sorry about that!

174195 Not yet, but I'm working on it today!

174195 That's an excellent goal Jackie.

In the same spirit, I went through my owned physical books today and decided that anything I owned pre-Christmas presents will either need to be read or donated by the end of the year next year. It's only 26 books, so I feel like it's manageable.

174195 I haven't read either but I was also sad to see those two up against each other since I've heard great things.

174195 Welcome Hannah! We don't have many southern hemisphere folks so it's fun to add people who are off season from the rest of us!

174195 The brackets have been released!

(scroll to the bottom)

How are y'all feeling?

So far, the only pairing where I've read both books is American Mermaid and Monstrilio, and Monstrillio takes the win, hands down.

174195 I recommend grabbing the link and saving it somewhere (I keep mine on the community spreadsheet) for easy access! You can also sort the folder alphabetically and that may help you find it quicker.

174195 And they have a 30% off all hardcovers if you go in store for the next couple of days!
Dec 26, 2023 04:16AM

174195 Chrissy, have you read Monstrilio? It would work for fish out of water and it's ToB!
Dec 26, 2023 04:11AM

174195 Oh Bana, I picked Babel as my favorite book of 2023, and Project Hail Mary was my best book of 2022! You're in for a good January lol
174195 It's the same link, John. We will transition to it to 2024 when the year is over!
