174195 I appreciated today's judgement, though I definitely disagree with it. I knew Boys Weekend was an underdog in the competition as a graphic novel, but I'm disappointed it lost out so early.

Here's the website to read the commentary, if anyone is interested: https://www.tournamentofbooks.com/2024/

174195 Ok I just read over it, and holy cow I love Rufi Thorpe's commentary, and I am not mad about this result either!

174195 Wait! Where are the results posted? I didn't get the newsletter to my email.

EDIT: Nevermind found it!!

174195 Sad to see you go! If you go to the group's homepage, there's a link that says Edit Membership at the top under the opening.

174195 I only made it 100 pages into Bee Sting, but the 646 page count + my hold period lapsing made me DNF. It just didn't grab me quickly enough.

174195 HAPPY TOURNAMENT OF BOOKS, Y'ALL!

Opening round starts today with the play ins. I'm hoping Auburn Conference makes it, but I have a feeling it will be Bee Sting.

174195 Hey Keli and Vanessa, please create a new thread in this folder for your tracking! This thread is for questions about the challenge. Thanks!

174195 Nike, totally your call. I would just make sure you indicate that you used Pink instead of Gold when you're tracking your reads so other people know (in case they are looking for recommendations).

Yesica, Gloria had it correct. It means that there are at least 5 different colors on one cover.

174195 Yea that's what I'm hearing about a lot of my picks (The Women, The Frozen River, Jesmyn Ward's books), so I'm going to try to space them out a bit.

174195 Alright, I had some big goals in February but hit a bit of a rut and didn't quite make it to where I wanted to. But March! It's usually a pretty good reading month for me!

Here's my plans:

The Phoenix Crown - 10. A history or historical fiction book
Mercury - 11. A book with an X connection
The Vibrant Years - 12. A book that has been on your TBR for over a year
Exiles - 13. A book that is on a Five Books List

I also plan on reading The Women and The Frozen River for book club.

I chose Murder Road, Anita de Monte Laughs Last, and None of This Is True from BOTM, so I will read at least one of those.

And then my book club is reading Jesmyn Ward's memoir next month so I'd like to read at least one fiction book by her before then.

Eep. That's a lot of books!

174195 Happy March! It's one of my favorite months of the year - Women's History Month (which means I read a ton of historical fiction), the Tournament of Books beginning, and spring!

Use this thread to share how you did in February, your plans for March, and discuss books you've read or are looking forward to reading!

174195 People who complete the challenge multiple times usually have multiple columns - one for each time they work through the challenge. That could be an option for you! Otherwise it's hard to create formulas that count multiple books written within the same box.

174195 Yes! March 1-May 31.

174195 You can approach this challenge however you want! For some people, 17 books is a breeze. For others, they may want to try to knock out 5 or 7 or the first 12 but not the challenge. Totally up to you.

Robin, the intent is that it is a cover color challenge, but, like I said, approach it however you'd like!

174195 SPRING SEASONAL CHALLENGE

Spring is here (thank goodness!) and we are watching for new growth and new opportunities as the weather improves.

But you know the saying... April Showers. And April showers come with rainbows! So this quarter, you're doing a cover color challenge for all of the colors of the rainbow.

How you choose to define it is up to you. You can challenge yourself and use books that fit the color with the majority of the cover, or you can count any book that has that color on it, no matter how big or how small.

For example, both of these could count for RED:
Yours Truly (Part of Your World, #2) by Abby Jimenez and I'm Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones

This challenge will run from March 1, 2024-May 31, 2024.

Feel free to copy and paste this into your own tracking thread in this folder:
