174195 I've removed the lock for you to update it!

174195 I have closed the spreadsheet. The final prompts that will be on our pre-poll are:

A science fiction or fantasy novel written by a woman
A book with an animal on the cover
A book set in a different hemisphere than where you live
A book that involves art, music, dancing or acting
A book told from multiple character POVs

You will have 3 votes to use on the pre-poll, however you choose to use them (3 up, 1 up 2 down, 3 down, etc.). That poll will go live on June 26th!

174195 NancyJ, we are running the same timeline we have the last few years!

174195 I hadn't even considered eastern/western for that prompt! That makes me feel better about it.

Just a head's up, we will be opening the Wild Discussion for the 2025 list on June 1st, and the poll with these options will be posted on June 26 with our first suggestions round opening on July 1st!

Up to you! I've deleted the ones I had on the plans tab once I put them on the completed tab.

This is a great idea!"

The mods went through and chose 10 possible prompts for each category! If they were polarizing or in the bottom, I left them off, and if they were close calls, they (nearly always) made the list. The rest were at our discretion!

174195 Glad you're having fun, Sherri!

I'm going to put a prompt counter on this thread in the top post... it will be updated periodically (when I can get to it) but just to give everyone an idea of where the prompts stand!

174195 I'm not sure how y'all do it! When I get to the last 100 pages of a book is when I want to fly through it. I just managed to save 100 pages of The Lost Story, and I woke up early to finish it this morning!

Surprisingly, a lot of my planned reads for May fit the category "A science fiction or fantasy novel written by a woman" so I think I'm going to throw most of my books behind that prompt!

174195 I've just unlocked the spreadsheet so we can start tracking votes!

174195 May 11: ICYMI, our May Mini-thon is starting TOMORROW! Check out this folder for the details:

174195 If it has illustrations (outside of just chapter headings or whatever), then it needs to be 200 pages. I'm not sure how many illustrations there are in the book!

174195 You just have to fill in the spreadsheet to vote! It will tally for us and make our lives much easier lol. The personal tracking post is just for fun!

174195 Hooray! I wanted to post the prompts early so everyone can adjust and think about what books they want to read next week. I will probably end up going heavy on one prompt, rather than spreading my votes... it's just looking like that with the books I have planned.

NancyJ, I hope you don't skip out! You're such a great voice in the process. But I wouldn't blame you if you skip out on the Wild Discussion lol. That can get a bit overwhelming sometimes.

174195 That’s what Read-a-thons are for!
May 05, 2024 06:36AM

174195 It was rejected in the pre-poll last year, before getting voted in later!

174195 Ohhh I read Tom Lake earlier this year and it was PERFECT when looking at the relationship between mothers and daughters. The way that the mom chooses what to reveal about her past and what to hold back from her daughters was so REAL. I loved it so much.

174195 Also, just a head's up, there is a planning tab on the spreadsheet, if people prefer to plan that way. Not required! But I wanted to offer the option.

174195 Karin, I have the same issue - I already had my May books picked out before I decided to do a mini-thon. I just found a couple prompts I like that the books fit with! Also hoping I can squeeze in a few more books than I planned.

174195 Milena, I'm pretty sure it was a creative placement, but I think I'm going with either Americone Dream (in the description, the killer is referred to an "All-American serial killer") or Dastardly Mash (because the killer is... dastardly?). Like I said.. creative placement lol. My book club is reading it in May so I'm trying to fit it in to a May prompt.

174195 Glad to hear it, Sherri!
