174195 Here's where I ended up in February:

6. A book with wings on the cover - How You Grow Wings
7. A book with a pronoun in the title - I'm Not Dying with You Tonight
8. A book by an author from Canada, Australia or New Zealand - The Librarianist
9. A book with fewer than 2024 ratings on Goodreads - The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard

I'm so glad we are finally working our way to March books. I've read a lot of really heavy, literary stuff the last couple of months for Tournament of Books, and I'm excited to focus on historical fiction by women for Women's History Month in March!

10. A history or historical fiction book - The Phoenix Crown
11. A book with an X connection - The Women
12. A book that has been on your TBR for over a year - The Vibrant Years
13. A book that is on a Five Books List - Exiles

174195 Irene, I do tend to group by time zone, mostly because that makes the start and finish time a bit easier and more consistent for the teams. But I'll try to mix it up next time (you're right - it is less work lol)

174195 It's the last day of our first read-a-thon of 2024... I hope you had a great week of reading! How'd everybody do?

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
3. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
4. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
5. Most importantly, did you have fun??

174195 Aw I'm sorry you missed it Edie! Like Robin said, we don't usually plan the dates more than a month in advance, as it's hard to know when we will be available (like with Jackie getting a whole baby this week!).

Of course, check out the newsletter, but I also recommend following the Mods Announcements thread, as I usually post a separate post on there when we have the dates and when we open sign ups: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I say leave it lol. It's all good!

174195 Just finished Tom Lake! I'm putting it for the alcohol prompt on the black bead, so we only have one prompt left for that one - main character who breaks the law!

174195 (Robin, you wrote that prompt haha!)

174195 Hooray! We finished our first round of getting all the beads, and are close to getting a couple more going into the weekend!

174195 We’ve just passed the halfway point of this read-a-thon. How are things going so far? We hope you’re having a great time. Let’s check in.

1. What challenges and distractions have you faced?
2. What has been your favorite part so far?
3. What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
4. What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
5. If you're playing along with a team, how has that changed your read-a-thon?

174195 I think I would feel comfortable counting it!

174195 It's definitely a book I never would have picked up without this tournament!

It's weird, wild, and often gruesome, but as someone who shies away from horror, it wasn't *too* gruesome. But it was definitely more emotional and poignant that I expected it to be, based on the description.

174195 Sure!

174195 We only have two we haven't used, and we are close to using one for pink! Might be open to a rule change on Friday, depending on what everyone's pendant tracking looks like.

174195 I'm really glad I read both Monstrilio and Shamshine. Very different books haha! But both enjoyable - Monstrilio is in my top 3 for the tournament.
