Maybe the way to become a household name is to act like one. I've never understood this "you're a nobody, so don't act like the big name authors" BS.

Again, you could do a search to find the threads about this topic, such as this one:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
If it isn't answering your questions, feel free to join to conversation, rather than starting a new thread. Thanks.

This topic is being discussed in lots of other threads. Do a search and find one. If you don't find the answers you are looking for that way, join the discussion and ask specific questions.

No links. No bookwhacking. No self-promotion. Please read the rules. Thanks.

This is Randy Ingermanson's Snowflake Method. A lot of authors swear by it. I've never tried it myself.

I deleted the link to your book. I am also deleting a comment with a link in it.
Good luck on finding a great title and cover this way. To me, this is like letting strangers name your baby.
ADDED: Also, I moved this topic to the Workshop. Where you had it is an area where only mods are allowed to post. Please be more careful.

Agreed. While some of this is interesting, it is getting a bit far from the original post.
If you guys want to start a new thread about sexism in the world of publishing, I'm okay with it. Just keep it clean.

However - as one who has been crowned King of Indie Short Stories I can tell you that, no, they don't sell very well. Some sell okay, many do not. None are making me rich or famous.

If you truly feel wronged for being asked to follow the rules and you continue to feel the need to state your case, you may send me a private message. You are also free to send a message to Ann, the founder of the group. Continuing to complain here is off-topic and very rude to those who are trying to have a discussion. Thanks.

I have no problem. I'm a moderator and I'm here to make sure people are following the rules. I'm not sure why you keep arguing about it.
I have started dozens of topics here and have never had to "choose" my book as the topic. There is an option to do so, but you are not forced to do this.
It takes about three minutes to read the rules. Tops.
I've tried to finish it by asking you to follow the rules. Most of our members do this without being asked. Generally, one reminder is enough and the member follows suit. It's actually kinda rare that things get this ridiculous. But, this is what you want it to be, I guess.

I am a moderator and I am not being "aggressive". This is your fourth comment. I deleted two for bookwhacking (both signed as editor of "[Title of book]" and one had a link to your book). Now you're arguing instead of complying with the rules. They are not difficult to find (a short version pops up next to the text box whenever you leave a comment), but I will give you the link to the full rules.

Maybe you're overthinking it. When I wrote my novel about a rockabilly guitarist, do you suppose I always listened to rockabilly? Nope. I went with whatever I was in the mood for. If I was in the mood for jazz, that's what I listened to. Go with what your brain is hungry for.

Because you didn't read the rules or the code of conduct.

Oh? The rules somehow do not apply to you? Explain.
George wrote: "Not all of us know the secret handshakes."
The rules and code of conduct are public, not secret. And if you don't know them, it's because you didn't bother to read them. Thus, yes, you do need to be reprimanded.
