I started it but keep getting distracted by book clubs. Maybe August when the one doesn't meet?

I'm halfway through and really enjoying it.

Two more essays to go for me. Some people might want to skip the first essay though I did not. My favorites so far are the ones about American usage and John McCain. I hope you're all enjoying the read or at least gaining some DFW perspective. See you next week!

I'm checking out Children of God today!

I remember this being a definite page-turner when I read it awhile ago. There were some late nights! I'd definitely set aside time when not at work getting interrupted--though who can fault a librarian for saying "just wait until I finish this chapter..."

...but what're ya gonna do. Even though I still haven't watched the first movie, now I have this to look forward to:

Thought people might find this interesting.

I'm just over 100 pages in and figured out that Paul is the Muad Dib guy some time last night. It takes away some tension but clearly there will be many obstacles to overcome. I did get into a good rhythm reading and really hope to finish in time!
I do find it interesting that some of the names are "normal" (in an ethnocentric way) and others are so off the wall. I also find myself stuck on pronunciations in my head but once I get past that, I move more quickly.
Also, "the spice" sounds creepy like "my precious."

I'm really enjoying it. I'm in the second half of the book so moving down the mountain. I hope I have time to read more ABOUT the book after I finish the actual book. I also want to see the movie. How many people have seen it?

Good discussion, as always. Definitely looking forward to the movie! If only a Cape G field trip was in the cards for me...
