I really like it so far though I think if I make it to the end (I’m on 299) I’ll wish it was 100 pages shorter so I wasn’t rushing!
I have the snack list but if anyone remembers signing up for April, let me know. I don’t have the list on me.
Remember: we’re back at the library at 6:30 on Wednesday, 4/11.

Sorry I missed y’all. I’ve been sick with a sore throat and bough all week so didn’t want to subject anyone else to that.

The struggle is real but worth it. Looking forward to another great year, friends!!

There are 11 available through SLPL so hopefully that will remain the case. I don’t want to get it quite yet though.

I don’t have an SLCL card. I know I can get one but if someone else can get the kit and bring to the meeting...

I nabbed the Marketplace copy today so I’m good. Teresa, can you get the downtown one?

Oh it’s the CD that’s available at Carpenter. Not as helpful.

The audiobook is available and it looks like there’s one at Central Express downtown and one at Marketplace on Manchester. My ebook checkout expires in 6 hours and I haven’t started yet.
Have others gotten a copy?

Y’all are making me blush. I love doing stuff liken this so thanks for letting me. I can do the two laptop thing going forward—the Kenny’s face laptop and the laptop we look stuff up on just like when Kenny was here. See everyone in a few weeks!
Kenny—I slotted things I’m on the google doc so check it out and move things around as you’d like. There are a couple times where we have five weeks in between meetings so I put longer books in those.

Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan is our April book. We’re going back to the library but will start at 630pm. Kenny is working on assigning months to the rest of the books so he’ll send that and post here.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and talking about selections! I didn’t try the game but am intrigued to talk about it a bit.

There are 249 "book clubs in a bag" options through SLPL. On the first page of that list, two caught my eye (Girl Waits with Gun and The Girls of Atomic City) then I stopped myself because I'm supposed to be working. Choosing some of our books from this list could alleviate availability issues and the extra step of procuring our own books.
Kenny, are you choosing those four books in those four categories or is that just a guide? Basically, are we choosing 5 books next Wednesday or 9.

Everything noted in this thread has been added to the ballot. We're at 13 and I think there are a few on the other thread and I haven't added any.

I am! Email or post here.

The Left Bank Sci Fi book club is reading both (The Fifth Season is 3/7 actually) so I’m all for overlap. The Power definitely interests me as well.

And Kenney we need your non-SLPL email. And if anyone else hasn’t gotten emails from Lucy etc, we need yours too.

Hello all!
Kenny has left our warm and rainy clime for the warmer, possibly rainier clime of Florida but the group goes on! This Goodreads group remains the same so participate and post here.
Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 14 at *6pm* so change your calendar. We’ll meet at the Vino Gallery at McPherson and Walton (free parking on McPherson between Walton and Taylor). They have wine and we can bring snacks. I think they have coffee too. They also have WiFi so we can Skype with Kenny and any new book clubbers he finds.
Our selection for March is “Around the World in 80 Days” by Jules Verne. There are lots of copies (multiple editions) available through SLPL, and it’s available for free download through the Gutenberg project. I haven’t figured out exactly how to get to my kindle app if I go that route but it’s out there.
For April through December, email your suggestions to me (anne.pennick@gmail.com) or post them here. I can then put together a ballot with some helpful info (title, author, genre, length, availability, short summary) to facilitate that part of our discussion. We can always choose just the next three or four months if we’re not ready to commit to the whole year.
Happy reading!

Looking forward to it! And also not! I’m bringing a treat of some kind. Haven’t finished the book so we’ll see how far I get in the next couple hours. We’re going to dinner beforehand then John is going to drink wine at Vino Gallery alone while I hang out with my bookish valentines. ❤️ 📖 📚

I have another book club 2/7 so I’d rather stay with 2/14. Does Vino care if we bring treats? I’ll bring enough for them too 😍
