I finished a couple days ago. Definitely hard to read at times but very interesting premise.

A couple of the libraries have copies that are “available but not holdable.” That’s what Vera and I got. So they don’t send them between libraries but if you go to that exact branch (and it’s available) you can check it out. I think the two we have are the only two for this book but we’ll keep You posted since we all live within a block of each other!

We do! Emory Paul Smith was born at 12:32am on 6/27, 8lbs 3oz and 19 inches long. I don’t know how to post pics on goodreads so will try to send an email. It was a wild ride but we’re doing well and head home tomorrow. I’ve read a few pages of The Power so we’ll see how it goes!

I picked up The Power from the Marketplace branch (my new secret weapon). I’m having this baby sometime in the next...24 hours so...I’ll be around and hopefully can get a little reading done! Vera, I can keep you posted if you want to swing by and hold the baby and borrow my copy 👶🏻

We don’t have a snack person for July. Teresa, up for it?

Good convo tonight about My Brilliant Friend. We missed those not in attendance so feel free to share thoughts on the other thread. July 11 we’ll meet to discuss The Power by Naomi Alderman. No kit for this one and it is newer so take that into account when requesting from whatever library.

I’ll be there. No new baby yet. I have like five pages left. I really liked it but for some reason it was slow going. I have no audio on one computer and I think the other doesn’t let me hardwire to the internet so might try the library chrome book again if available. My no audio computer can also do video while we do audio on the phone which might be better anyway.
Kenny—have something for video but also keep your phone handy for audio.

Teresa (or anyone else), we go out of town Saturday so let me know if you want to pick up a book between today and Saturday morning.

I have the kit. Best times to pick up are Saturday 4-6pm or Sunday 1-4pm. Sunday after 4 can work too—we just have a condo meeting but I’m around. Let me know!

I should get the kit Sunday or Monday and I get it for 6 weeks I think so we don’t have to worry about renewals or other holds. So, books available for whoever wants. I don’t know how many...at least 10?

Sure—I have to get the kit first so it’ll be a couple days.

McPherson and Taylor or can easily get to the library or anywhere along Euclid.

The kit is through SLPL rather than the county so I’ll pick it up. Teresa and Vera can easily swing by to get a copy. Lucy and Cheryl and others—what works for you?

See everyone tonight at 6:30 at the library. Donna is on snacks!

It’s linked in the first post here by Kenny.

I started listening today.

I just did this with another online book group. I’ve read 57. And 50 Shades of Grey is some of the WORST writing I’ve ever encountered. I couldn’t get past that and more than a few pages in to the first one. It is something that a lot of people DID read so...there’s that? Definitely interested to follow the series though.

Brentwood Library has a kit. I could check it out and know I can get Vera and Teresa copies easily. If others wanted to stop by, I could hand out.

Found the snack list!
