• The Doctor - Read a book about a medical professional, or with a character or by an author named Simon. - The Honorary Consul MC is doctor
• Whimsical in the brain pan - Read a book about someone with special mental abilities, or with someone with mental health problems. Or read a book with a body of water in the title or on the cover. - Cage of Souls - stefan has special metal powers and can kill using his brain!
• Badger has a job for you. - Read a book with a character that has an animal name, or a book in which a crime is committed. - If It Bleeds - Many crimes, including a bombing at a school
• Taken by Niska - Read a book in which people are held captive, or a book which takes place in Russia, or has a Russian character or author. - Nine Princes in Amber - MC and his brother are held captive
• By my pretty floral bonnet... - read a book with someone wearing a hat on the cover, or read a book in which someone uses a disguise or cross-dresses - The Human Factor - MC is disguised in order to smuggle him out of the country.
• Cowboys in space! - Read a book tagged sci-fi or western (extra kudos if it's tagged both those!) - Big Damn Hero - both, of course!
• Are you asking me to dance? - Read a book in which someone is shot/seriously injured - Firefly: The Unification War Vol. 1 - many people get shot, including 2 of the crew.
• The Train Job - Read a book in which characters take a train-ride, or which features a train or other form of public transport on the cover. Or read a book which features a heist - If I Never Met You MCs take the train to Lincoln.
•No power in the 'Verse can stop me! - Read a book with an apple or other fruit on the cover, or read a book in which someone is tortured or rescued. - Silence - lots and lots of torture.
•I can kill you with my brain - Read a book in which someone makes a threat, or in which someone shows special abilities. Or read a book with the letters B R A I & N in the title. - Mort - Mort starts to take on Death's special abilities.
•Pretty cunning, don't you think? - Read a book with a hat of some kind on the cover, or read a book with an orange or yellow cover. - The Woman in Black - Woman on cover is wearing a hat (hide spoiler)]

Firefly book read in place of a task: The Magnificent Nine

•Shiny! Let's be bad guys! - Read a book from the POV of someone who is on the wrong side of the law. Or read a book with a shiny cover. - Firefly: The Unification War Vol. 2 - seems there are very few characters NOT on the wrong side of the law!
•Oh god, oh God, we're all gonna die. - Read a book in which someone narrowly escapes death, or read a book tagged 'Interesting'. - The Grim Grotto - sunny was almost killed by the mushrooms
•Faster would be better! - Read a book in which someone is chased, or which has something fast on the cover. - The Wolf's Hour - MC is chased through a train.
•Fanty & Mingo - Read a book featuring twins, or which has two identical items on the cover. - The Alchemist's Pursuit - Twins Corrado and Christoforo
•Mr Universe - Read a book that takes place somewhere besides Earth, or which has a curly-haired character on the cover. - Endymion - Takes place elsewhere in the universe
•Haven - Read a book where characters retreat to a safe place, or which has a guitar or other musical instrument on the cover. Or read a book in which someone is given advice by someone. - The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Helen and her son run away to her brother's house.
•that's not incense - Read a book which features an explosion, or in which someone wears a disguise. Or read a book with a candle, incense or pillows on the cover. - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Benjamin disguises himself to try and look younger (and later older)
•I aim to misbehave. - Read a book in which someone causes trouble/behaves badly, or which has the letters T R O U B L & E in the title. - The House by the Sea - Valentina's husband behaves very badly towards her and her son.
•I'm a leaf on the wind... - Read a book in which a character dies, or which has something that can soar (leaf, bird, plane, etc.) on the cover. - The Kreutzer Sonata - The man's wife dies (because he murders her!)
•The Operative - Read a book which features someone that uses a sword, or which features a character that belongs to a government agency of some kind. - A Brief History of the Samurai: The Way of Japan's Elite Warriors - All the Samurai use swords
•I'm a fan of all seven - read a book that can be linked to one of the seven deadly sins in some way (Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth or Wrath). - The Man Who Would Be King and Other Stories - Could probably make a case for all of them, but the title story most definitely covers GREED

I completed Serenity, which means I'm done with Firefly! (unless the universe decides to re-write itself to one where the show was never cancelled! lol)
