I think you're right. He must have had a credit card. I think Mac cleared him via them! Saying there were no suspicious charges. And it's not like the motel was so expensive that he couldn't use his own. So he must have been being cautious. Which means....why not get cash? The ATM photos is a good point. But it would be a LOT easier in court to say "so what? I went to an ATM" then to say "so what? My mom's credit card has a charge for the motel room my girlfriend was murdered at."

Suspicious Chad....

133080 Exactly! So why use his mom's credit card? He doesn't have his own? That would have been much too easy for him to have been caught? We wouldn't have had the mystery for the book....

133080 You're right. Gale Buckley specifically took the time in the movie to introduce the firm and what they specialized in. How does this firm fit in with Veronica and her career path? Her personality? Is she trying to purposely switch gears and convince herself she is something she is not? In that case the movie did a great job in shifting her gears BACK. And I am for one, very grateful!

133080 Hi Cyrus! Just gotta say you were great on the special features! And thanks for all the lawyer 411!

133080 Poor Mac....she's feeling really responsible that she didn't catch the charge on Chad's moms credit card.
May 04, 2014 05:32PM

133080 Ch 30 PP: Mac calls Veronica to tell her that Chad Cohen mothers credit cards were charged for the motel.

Question....Chad didn't anticipate killing Hayley (or did he?) If he had enough sense to charge his mothers credit card instead of his own, wouldn't the same precaution take him a step further and just have him pay cash?

The skills have already proven themselves useful! She even bailed herself out of some trouble in the movie =)

Agreed! But to me he seemed like a jerk who didn't treat girls with respect. Veronica did say that it was better for him to underestimate her. I'm not sure how scared or intimidated he was by Veronica. With the official police off his back, I got the impression he was moving on with his life like it hadn't happened.

The thought kind of makes me want to cry too....

133080 All good questions! I would guess they chose that profession for Veronica because she still got to work with her strong sense of justice?

133080 True. But there is also no mention of Chad being a person of interest to the police. It was all Veronica investigating him. I got the impression that Chad was thinking he got away with it.

133080 Oh good point! I would say it was her explanation of the "price being too great". But in the movie we get the impression she was NEVER in the FBI, although yes she still could have done the internship. But I wasn't left with that impression. In the book we find out that she did do an internship....and then walked away?

133080 Chapter 30 PP: The police arrive on the scene and Veronica gives her statement.

Love that Officer Meeks shows Veronica some respect. She solved the case when the police couldn't!
May 04, 2014 05:18PM

133080 I also love it because now they can reference all these skills she picked up in the FBI!

Hannah wrote: "Neptune Rising wrote: "Ch 29, page 250. LoVe the mention of Veronica's FBI internship!"

I was starting to wonder if it hadn't happened for some reason. I was really glad they mentioned it too."

133080 Ch 29 PP: Veronica discovers Hayley Dewalts body.

Chad was so in love with Hayley, yet he just tossed her body aside. He didn't even come back to bury it. Just went along with his life!

133080 Ch PP: Amelia DeLongpre ice maker flashback.
"She walked toward it as if she were in a dream, Or a memory? How many dead girls drifted in her wake? How many ghosts did she have to carry?"

WOW. This line sat with me. Sunk my heart. Veronica has shouldered a very heavy weight with her career choice. Yet no one is as well suited for it as she is.

133080 Ch 29, page 250. LoVe the mention of Veronica's FBI internship!

133080 Anyone watch Bates Motel? That place was totally my visual for this scene.

Deborah wrote: "Bloodstain - I thought DAMN the people who run this motel are unobservant or has really low occupancy. Who wouldn't notice all the furniture had been moved?"
