Neptune Rising’s comments from the Veronica Mars Book Club group.

PP: Tanner claims that he and Shep used to be partners in crime and he hasn't seen him in 8 years.

I hadn't thought about that, that's a good possibility!

PP: Tanner admits that Duane Shepard aka "Lee Jackson" and he were working together. "I mean, I was working FOR him."

Do we believe Tanner's story? Or do we think he was a bit more willing to rejoin his life of crime than he made it sound like?

BTW, Happy Mother's Day to all the marshmallow mama's out there! Coincidentally these chapters have a lot to do with Veronica and her relationship with her mother.

PP: Petra forces Lamb to let Veronica observe the inerrogation. That was a big bit of pride Lamb had to swallow. But Petra makes a good point....who else is capable of finding the missing $600K?

The last chapters of The Thousand Dollar Tan Line went SO quickly! I could not put the book down!

I suspected it, but then thought, "No Veronica would have thought of that right away...." so i was questioning my assumption.

Our next Neptune Rising event is this Saturday, 5/10 at 3pmPDT/6pmPDT. We are watching By The Fans, the Veronica Mars Movie documentary extra. It is so well done, I am excited to be hosting it and watch it with you all!

I can't believe we've reached the end of our discussion this week! This was so much fun. I am still going over Chad using his mother's credit card in my head. I hope we hear more feedback here about why he did that. Was Hayley's murder premeditated? If it was why use a credit card at all? I know hotels require one, even if you are paying cash. Not sure about seedy motels. I'm sure they get a lot of people who don't have credit cards. Maybe he hadn't anticipated needing one and used his mom's card, just in case? Maybe he just knew no good could come from the night? Does Chad not even look when he reaches into his wallet and grabs the first card he sees because money is nothing to him? There are so many possibilities I want to hear what you think!

Ch 34 PP: Veronica gets a text from Mac- Tanner has a plane ticket to Bermuda in the morning.

Veronica and Lianne's argument really got me thinking....Lianne HALF apologies to Veronica here. She says the words "i'm sorry" but she isn't actually apologizing.

If she did AA, shouldn't she have given Veronica and Keith apologies LOOOOOONG ago? Isn't that part of the process? Veronica has every right to be upset at Lianne's new life. Lianne got to move on and build a new life, never giving the people in her old life any closure. But what about Keith and Veronica? They deserved closure!

Ch 34 PP: Tanner returns home. It appears he was out for a night time run.

Ch 34 Veronica: "BUT JUST BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO BELIEVE IT DIDN'T MAKE IT A DELUSION."

Ch 34 Veronica: "So like Lianne, to make this a story about poor little her. To make everything she'd done to Veronica and Keith into another way to feel sorry for herself. So like Lianne too to somehow make Veronica half believe the accusation. That was a drunk's best trick, after all- spread the blame around, let everyone take part in the dysfunction. But didn't Lianne deserve to be punished, just a little? It wasn't fair that she could just decide to move on, easy as that. It wasn't fair that she could build a new life, one where she didn't have to live with what she'd done to Veronica and her father. So maybe some part of Veronica did want to believe Tanner was a crook."
