As we enter part 2, we get to know a bit about Billie's fiancé, Craig. He seems so level headed and willing to put up with the really awful Billie. Se soon find out a bit more about that! Also, we look at the nearly equally awful Lucas, son of Goldy's godfather.
Do you thing the terrible behavior of Billie and Lucas is believeable?

I am a bit over half way through the book, so I will start part 2 tomorrow.

I agree that Jack's interest in Charlotte has something behind it. More than plain interest in someone who is just a bit less annoying than her daughter.

Not even heard of it. Have you read it or just heard of it?

I'm not even remotely thinking of a culprit at this early stage! Good for you, Nicole!

Since Goldy is the only nearby caterer, I think it would wonderful if she just turned down Billie's job.

Here we are with (according to my book) the 15th installment of the Goldy the Caterer series, by Diane Mott Davidson. It seems there are another two after this one.
We start with Goldy dealing with a bridezilla named Billie Attenborough, for whom Goldy is catering her wedding. Multiple changes and extreme pushiness from Billie has worn Goldy to a frazzle. In the midst of another wedding, word of the death of Goldy's beloved godfather, Jack, happens.
This is certainly a perfect storm of stuff for Goldy to deal with.
Midway through this section, we find that it appears that the death of Doc Finn was not an accident but murder.
I've not read many of this series since the first few, but always liked them. I found a bunch recently at used book stores, which is why I suggested one of them.
Let's discuss!

Fatally Flaky part one is posted!

Make that chapters 1-10. I didn't have my notes with me when I wrote the above.

Chapters 1-11 will be first. The first 100 pages, in my edition. 100 pages each of three sections.

Let me know when you are ready and I will start Flaky.

Tina: Wishing you a speedy recovery and safety from the storm.
Everyone: Are we on board for Fatally Flaky for July? I can host if you'd like. And Agatha Raisin for August is fine with me as well.

My two mose recent ones (unread) are The Whole Enchilada (2013) and Fatally Flaky (2009). Either of those work?

Let me check on my Davidsons and see what comes up!

Not sure about specific great ones, but I see a bunch of unread Diane Mott Davidson ones on my book shelves.

This seems to be a foreshadowing of the "everybody knows everything in a small village" idea we've come to expect in St. Mary Mead.

Murgatroyd is a nice kindly, older lady in Murder in announced. Her partner is Hinchcliffe.

My feeling is that this is a very early Marple. First of all, Miss Hartnell is still there and she doesn't appear later in her stories. Second, she appears very fluffy, which seems to leave in her later stuff.

As far as I know, we have just set up this one discussion, on the Caretaker story.
If there are any other suggestions, please let us know.
If nothing shows up, I suggest a story or two from Christie's short story collection, Three Blind Mice and other Stories. I chose this for an upcoming class I'm teaching in my OSHER lifelong learning group.
During the spring, in my Agatha Christie class, several people asked about reading some of her work and discussing it. So I proposed this class and it is set up for September. And it will be IN-PERSON!
Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to read one or two stories from the book.
Any thoughts?

Assuming you have finished the story, Christie fans will be reminded forcefully of the novel Endless Night. No Miss Marple there (expect for the Julia McKenzie adaptation), but a very similar story and ending!
