12350 I just finished reading STRANGE TRIBE, a memoir by John Hemingway. He's the grandson of Papa, and the son of Gregory. I started it this morning, and read the whole thing today, it's that engaging. It's also that interesting. I recommend it.

12350 I decorated my livingroom, and kitchen with pictures, books, the typewriter, and such in honor of Ernest. I even found a way to put him in my bathroom. Wanna hear that story? It's not a long one, but bookclub members found it to be amusing.

12350 This is my Dad's Royal typewriter. While doing research on Hemingway, I found out he typed some of his writings on a model, exactly just like this one,and then, of course, I was thrilled to have a typewriter that was the same model as Papa's!

12350 I am starting this book this week. My bookclub is doing it because July 21st is the 110th anniversary of Hemingway's birth. It sure would be nice to have anyone else out there that's read it, or reading it to have a discussion with. "Anyone? Anyone? Movie trivia time! Which movie did that Phrase come from? Any takers?

12350 Sometimes I wonder about these college profs???? I had one tell us that all of Emily Dickinson's poems, every one of them are about menstruation. I thought the guy was a nut!

12350 I am sure you are right. I think he was bisexual. I wonder if he explored both sides. He certainly wrote about them, that's for sure. If he explored his male to male side, it was well hidden.

I don't believe Brett was a misogynist either. So what do you call it when you're a man hater? Ha!

12350 also hemingway's obsession with bullfighting, and especially the young matadors, and even in THE SUN ALSO RISES jake keep mentioning how beautiful Romero is, or whatever his name was , the young matador that went off with brett. i just think there's lots of little hints, that ernest admired males.

12350 and he spent a lot of time and effort proving to the world just how masculine he was with all the hunting, and the tough guy persona.

12350 well, truman capote was quoted as saying that ernest was the biggest queen of them all.... i t hink it's possible, yes. what you do you think?
