Wow, Selene's eyes from Underworld are really cool! I can imagine those on Lillian.

First I think it's really cool that Mr Morgan likes Count Vira as much as Debi does. It's nice when parents and kids have interests in common like that.
The Beasts are always hilarious, of course, but I particularly loved the bit where Kyle was grossed out about Justn sneezing, then it said Justin had once seen him drop a chunk of steak, save it by flicking out his dirty football boot, then kick it back up into the air and catch it with his mouth, plus all the bits where they'd start showing off for Emma. However I wasn't sure about this bit:
Emma gave Kyle a cool smile. "Well, I don't care much for football, but all that flipping and tumbling reminded me of some of the athletes at my old school."
Kyle glowered. "No way your football players could do what we just did!"
"Oh I wasn't talking about our football team." Emma batted her eyes innocently. "I meant the girls' gymnastics team."
Daniel felt Debi take a nervous step backwards. He didn't blame her. Emma had just dissed Kyle's football skills - who knew what the guy might do?
Then there's this:
'"Dude," said Chris Jordan, using his sleeve to wipe a trickle of burger juice from his chin, "did I just hear Dan-o say something about extra training.
Justin nodded. "You know me. I like to take it to the max."
"But what did you mean about Riley? Don't tell me you were training with a girl!"
"Who do you think created his training chart?" said Riley easily.'
Sexist at all? :/
On a more positive note, I thought it was so cute when Daniel said with Emma he knew what it was like to have a sister. I literally want a new MBTW book just to see more of Emma and their friendship. Love it! Also I thought her mysterious crush on one of the band members was a cool way to stop the band fading into the background. Honestly throughout the whole book I was seriously impressed by how many threads there were - it really felt like everyone had something going on in their lives which was great.

Yes, I always thought he was referring to Serena Star. He probably knows about it since she broadcast her whole investigation on TV...? (lol)
I know, Justin dancing was great. The scene where Daniel was asking his dad about she-wolves and Justin was doing the cha-cha-cha was hilarious! Very clever how she took a simple talking scene that might have been boring and made it funny and active. Justin and Riley are definitely cheesy, but I found I was OK with it in this book because I feel like they admit that they're cheesy and ya know; they're happy so I'm happy. :D
The hospital fundraiser scene: SO GOOD. I totally agree with all your points. I think that's a cool plot twist that Winifred Peters is a she-wolf - so much more original than if she was a vampire or a human who had no idea about vamps. I'm not sure if she knows about vampires. The intuitive thing does kinda feel like a hint I agree, but didn't Ivy once say in MSTV that the Count Vira vamps were nothing like real ones? Or maybe that's just her trying to throw people off the scent. It does make you wonder, if you knew that a paranormal creature existed (or were one yourself), wouldn't you try and find out if any of the others existed too? That's what makes me think lots of the werewolves and vampires must know about eachother.

That seems strange that Olivia would start school on a Thursday. I agree keeping track of the days might not be the best way of doing it. Then again it is cool to see. I'm leaning towards keeping it as days? I'm planning to reread Switched soon too so hopefully I'll be able to help straighten out some of the confusion at least. :)
I agree with Maia, pretty sure they were thirteen in the beginning. I definitely remember them being in eighth grade in the first book, and though the US school system kinda confuses me, I think that means they should be thirteen.

A quick note: this discussion will NOT contain spoilers for the books, so new readers are safe to browse away! If you do want to say something about the one of the plots however, feel free to hide them with spoiler tags and just let us know which book the spoiler is about. Haaave fun! ;)

I actually noticed in Cry Wolf (MBTW#1) she said this:
"Sorry," [Daniel] mumbled. "You know, about my dad going on about all that boring moon stuff."
Debi shook her head. "It's OK. I'm actually fascinated by astronomy."
Aside from the character profile, I thought this was interesting since we've been talking a little about Debi sometimes not being that interesting of a character. I'd quite like to see this hobby explored more in later books. Can you imagine how funny it would be if the first time Daniel brought her over to his house her and Daniel's dad bonded over Moon lore the whole time. :D
I was also wondering if Debi having a sibling might've been cool to see. Obviously it would be hard to put that in at this point in the series (though not impossible - new baby, reuniting with a half-sibling, could happen!), but to me seeing the dynamic between siblings can add a lot to a character. For instance Justin and Daniel would probably be a lot less interesting if it wasn't for the relationship between them. And apart from them, most people in MBTW seem to be only-children, so that was just an idea I had. Thoughts?

More great finds, Sophie! I honestly had no idea here were this many pop-culture references in MSTV. And I agree, that Dracula movie looks ridiculous. :D
The Munsters is a cool one. Do you think there's a possibility that that inspired Sienna Mercer to write Sister the Vamp and Bro the Werewolf? With one of them being human, it does seem kind of similar.
I've never seen any Audrey Hepburn movies but just from photos I can totally imagine Sophia with that classy, put-together but simplistic look for the ball. It kinda feels like we're getting to know Sienna Mercer and what she must have been thinking about as she wrote certain parts by looking at all these references. I love that she put them in. <3

I've never heard of Alexandria's Genesis - again thanks for all your awesome info! It doesn't seem very likely to me that it exists - I mean, a person born with immunity to illness and who stops ageing at 50?! I'm sceptical about that. I feel like if there were people who stopped ageing at 50 people would notice and scientists would have looked into it. Albinism I have heard of, and that being a cause of violet eyes sound a lot more plausible to me.
Back to Ivy's eyes though, I thought it might be useful if we had the quote in which they mention it while we're discussing it:
Ivy pulled Olivia into the shade of the thorn bushes. then she slowly lifted her hands up to her face, and carefully popped out her contact lenses, one after the other.
Olivia put her hand to her mouth. "Your eyes are purple!"
"They're violet," corrected Ivy. She tried not to smile. "Olivia," she said. "I'm a vampire. [...] We have to wear contact lenses to protect our eyes from the sun."
"Yeah, right," Olivia said. "Like I'm going to believe that vampires have purple eyes!"
"Most don't," Ivy admitted matter-of-factly, putting her contacts back in. "My eyes are special. Bright yellow, luminous green - those are more normal."
I agree with you S!X - Marc Daniels would be a big help right now! I really hope Sienna Mercer explains it more. Ghostly silver eyes would be so cool, haha!

I'm sure Sienna Mercer wasn't trying to bash on all engineers when she wrote the book. I've always thought it was intended to be an example of how persuasive and exploitative of her fame Jessica can get when she's working for her own selfish reasons, more than the engineer's shallowness. Plus given that a major theme of the book is the craziness of Hollywood (Olivia wondering whether it's really for her, Ivy being relieved to get away from it) if anything I'd say it was a comment on people working in media rather than those in engineering.
Also didn't Ivy just assume Jessica was giving the guy her phone number - so it could've been something different? I suppose that is still a bribe though, and I'm not trying to diminish your opinion or anything. I can see why it's offended you - thanks for commenting about it. I always find it interesting to hear not necessarily positive opinions on this series. :)

If Sienna Mercer didn't visit Transylvania she did an amazing job of describing it! She also goes pretty in-depth on Hollywood (or L.A or somewhere like that... I can't quite remember), in Star Style (MSTV#8). I wonder if she's been there too. They visit London in Double Disaster (MSTV#13) as well, but I've always imagined she hasn't actually been there since I have multiple times and it wasn't very similar! It'd be great to question Sienna Mercer about this.

I think I remember red eyes being pretty rare too. I think I'd want Ivy's purple eyes like you, Sophie. But green would be cool, and I guess the amber is like gold? All of them sound nice actually!
This is an interesting subject, I agree I'd love to hear Sienna Mercer reveal more about it. There's so many different elements to the vamp world, isn't there?!

I think I agree with you MBTW might work better as a film because there just aren't as many storylines to explore as MSTV. I can imagine it translating into a cool high school movie focusing around the sports and music storylines, with of course the unique werewolf element, like you say.
Scenes I'd look forward to might be the homecoming dance, the werewolf gatherings, the dance class, and when Riley auditioned for Daniel's band - I bet Daniel, Otto and Nathan's expressions would be priceless when she smashes it!
Oh my gosh your description of the opening scene makes it so easy for me to picture! Back in Black would be perfect. You should direct this film!
