Trivia
On the BBC, author Richard Osman said he would be having nothing to do with the production because producer Steven Spielberg made E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and if he did that he knows how to make a film. He said this was the first of four books featuring the characters in The Thursday Murder Club. The second, The Man Who Died Twice, was released in September 2021. The Man Who Died Twice

Nothing on the Flavia De Luce series other than it will be a TV series and it will be presented at the Caanes Festival.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley is the first book of a soon to be 12 book series - so plenty of material to work with and expand the seasons.

No time frame, but it does sound like it will be a movie and not a series. Joy himself is very involved in the production of this - saying he wants it to be 'accurate'.

1199115 This is now out in theaters. I have not been to the show in quite some time, but this one may lure me there. A weekday afternoon in a quiet theater with a coke and popcorn may not be the worst way to spend a few hours.

1199115 This first season is bingeable and I have watched the first 3 episodes. Altho it is being billed as the replacement for Yellowstone - NOPE! A charming series in it's own right, but no Yellowstone. Yellowstone was grit from the first episode - Ransom Canyon pales in comparison. However, in the genre of the modern western, Ransom Canyon is entertaining, in my opinion, and worth the time to watch.

1199115 Well I backed up! I just watched The Dry (Aaron Falk, #1) movie. I read the book in May of 2017. I remembered bits and pieces going into the movie, but remembered more as the movie played on. I think I would give it a 5 out of 10 for a rating. Not that it was a bad movie, but I did not the person who played Falk. For me he just did not fit the picture. I would much rather have preferred someone like Jeremy Renner, Kit Harrington or even Matt Damon - but Eric Bana made up like he is, just isn't my picture of Aaron Falk.

I plan to watch Force of Nature: Dry 2 (which I read in Oct 2021) in the next few days and will report back once I do. (I will struggle thru Bana for a second film....blah! )

1199115 I watched this movie - one I have wanted to see for a long time. However... if I had not read the book this movie would not have made much sense. I was disappointed in the movie. It seemed to glaze over every important point of the book - which the book detailed very well.

It is unusual the way it is shown - first hour from one POV, then the second hour it tries to redo everything from the first hour, but from someone else's POV. A lot of looking thru the eyes of the person speaking or acting, not looking at them like most movies do.

It felt to me like trying to reproduce a song - a very popular song. You start out well remembering the words - then you fumble a few lines - then finally you just hum instead of trying to sing the words. You are still carrying the tune, but the words evade you.

I would be really upset if I had put MGM+ streaming in just for this movie. Luckily, there is more on MGM that I plan to watch, or the cost of even a month for this movie would have been too much.

Skip the movie - read the book.

1199115 Trivia
The actress who plays Frances in childhood is played by Melissa McCarthy's daughter Vivian Falcone.

Goofs
Set in California, the series was filmed in Australia. Giveaways are the presence of Australian banyan trees (with the tall ribbon-like roots) that are not native to California, the moon which appears "upside down" in the Southern Hemisphere from how it would appear in California in the Northern Hemisphere, and Australian-style power outlets in which the upper two holes are angled instead of straight.
