Welcome everyone to the group! We're so close to 2014!"

That might be good, actually - otherwise I might keep putting it off all year and never get around to it, haha!

118012 That's a good question - I think as long as you finish a book in 2014 it'll count towards your goal. :)

118012 Ohh, The Brothers Karamazov is excellent! I'm hoping to read We this year.

118012 Only 3 days to go!!!

Roseanne, is there something short that you could read?
Dec 29, 2013 08:09AM

118012 Yes, good luck! :)
118012 I've been so burned over the years by "acclaimed" books that I started avoiding books that get a lot of hype. Unfortunately, I've missed out on a lot of genuinely great books that way, so I'm trying to give things a chance again if they sound like something I might enjoy.

118012 Wow, so many newbies! Welcome, all! :D

Kath, I plan on reading Ulysses in 2014, too. It's good to know I won't be alone!

118012 Welcome, Lucy!

This is the 2013 Reading Challenge app thingie, and the 2014 one will appear in its place at the beginning of January. You simply type in how many books you hope to read throughout the year, and the graph will appear on your Goodreads profile. As long as you add your start and finish dates of each book you read on its rate/review page, it'll keep track of the amount of books you've read automatically, and tell you whether you're ahead or behind or right on schedule. I hope that helps. :)

118012 I've got it here, and I'm excited to start! :)

118012 4 days to go!!!

I've decided that my first read of 2014 will be The Island of Dr. Moreau. I haven't read much H.G. Wells, but I've enjoyed what little I've read, and this one sounds good. :)

Meanwhile, I still have 10 more books to finish before the end of the year to make my 2013 goal! AUGH!!! CAN'T DO IT!!! MUST!! READ!! FASTER!!

118012 I'll be reading The Book Thief and The Zookeeper's Wife, at the very least.

It's set during a very historical period of American history, so I'd say it counts.
