118012 I consider a short book to be anything below 250 pages, but it's a rather subjective thing!

I absolutely love this challenge idea, and can't wait to get started on it :)

118012 If anyone wants to do a Christmas-y buddy read in December, I'd be very interested! :)

118012 I definitely like a mix. But then again, I don't really listen to the radio!

118012 Is anyone else in a SUPER Christmas-y mood?

Usually I'm only really in the mood in like mid December, but it's not even December yet and I'm SO excited. Like me and my blockmates when to a Christmas Market yesterday, and someone's always playing Christmas music, so it's on all the time. And there's still like a month to go!!!
118012 It's the last Genre group read of the year! Where has all that time gone?! This months genre is Adventure, a tricky genre, I know!

Our pick is The Neverending Story, by Michael Ende.

Discussion/reading will start on the 1st!
118012 It's the last Young Adult group read of the year! Where has all that time gone?!

Our pick is Holes, by Louis Sachar!

Discussion/reading will start on the 1st!
118012 It's the last Classic group read of the year! Where has all that time gone?!

Our pick is To the Lighthouse, by Virginia Woolf!

Discussion/reading will start on the 1st!

118012 Becca, it's actually a really awesome read. I really enjoyed it :)

And Faye, I agree, it's a sad sad world. We are, however, studying parts of it in my Intro to Poetry module next week. Which is going to be super exciting!

118012 Today, I shocked my poetry tutor and seminar group when I said that I'd read the whole of Paradise Lost. Apparently that isn't something first year undergraduates have done?

Excuse me, do you know how awesome Satan is in it? Why wouldn't you want to read it?!

Clearly I'm just weird. I read hard books for fun. :P

118012 Microwaveable packets. Plus our microwave is really good at doing them, so it comes out great!

118012 And now I really want some muffins or something. I hate being a poor student :(

118012 All you people using Fahrenheit confuse me! :P

118012 There's definitely fewer books that have been literally everywhere this year. Often, as you said, I think we have more stand-outs. Maybe it's just me being too antisocial and not realising these things!

118012 This is when I know its nearly the end of the year, all the 'best of' awards start asking for votes!

I usually don't vote unless there's a book or an author that I really like nominated.

Have you voted this year? Any standouts in the nominations?

118012 That's insane, Roseanne! A month and a half early! Well done!

Cheryl, thats one massive number. We'll be setting up new threads and everything probably in December, so keep an eye out for when you can start getting read for 2015!
Nov 13, 2014 08:00AM

118012 Thanks for the feedback! Most of the threads that are commonly used are renewed every months (most reading threads), so generally, things are quite usable. It is just the more stable threads.

Hopefully this can be rectified a bit in 2015, where I expect we'll start archiving old threads to make way for new, 2015 ones!

118012 The new Member Introductions thread is now up. I've locked the previous thread so people can no longer post in it.
