118012 I like the freedom to pick cover colour or base it on titles. Depending on how big we want to do it, we could do it like the 'I Want To Buy A Vowel' challenge where people can just casually fill it as they go, or a bigger one where the month is based on a colour!

118012 Mayme, I just saw your post and seriously love the idea! I might be slightly bias towards rainbows, aha, but it's a wonderful idea. I love that the simple colour of books could be a challenge! All the little things we usually pass up for bigger theme and concepts.

I'd love to see you set this up in the New Year. I think it would be great fun!

118012 It's something we've definitely been discussing.

I believe what we'll do is get rid of the typical reading challenge widget, since people are more likely to use the normal reading challenge widget which is on the site.

We will then have the 3 challenges as separate widgets, laid out like the current Genre Challenge.

I hope this makes sense :)
118012 That's a very good attitude to take, Becca.

Just to reiterate, it is definitely not a competition. It's more just a different way of doing your challenge, and it pushes you to read different books, much like what this group is about. :)

118012 Its actually been a really different year (reading-wise) than I expected. This group has made me discovered a load of really amazing books that have made it onto my favourites list!

But we still haven't finished 2014! There could be a few gems still left to go. I expect 84 Charing Cross will be one!

118012 Okay, this is going to be a tough one! I've basically put everything down that I considered to be 5 stars. Bolded ones are my favourite favourites!

In no particular order:
Catch-22, by Joseph Heller
Ulysses, by James Joyce
The Madness Vase, by Andrea Gibson
The Song of Achilles, by Madeline Miller
Manhattan Transfer, by John Dos Passos
Dracula, by Bram Stoker
The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Maurice, by E. M. Forster
O Pioneers!, by Willa Cather
The Charioteer, by Mary Renault
And the Band Played On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic, by Randy Shilts
The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins
118012 I can't wait to read it! Unfortunately, I can't get it until I get back home, which is super frustrating!
118012 This book definitely seems to be a massive hit with people!

118012 I'll personally still use mine like I did this year, rye main aspect of it is my read list. I just need a more concrete place to put my lists and things rather than random scraps of paper and text files. :P

118012 To be honest, it's your personal thread, you can do what you want with it! :D

They've definitely evolved from this years threads though, which seem to be far more of a simple list than a cataloging system for everything. Definitely useful!

118012 Yeah, I've just got headings in mine, but people have really gone all out.

I think it depends on how many goals and separate challenges people decide to have. :)

118012 Of course members are allowed to make threads, in generally any section! We try to encourage it, but we often don't see many people making them. We'd love for people to make more! :)

Go right ahead and make it. It's an excellent idea, and could spark some really interesting discussions!

118012 Everyone is going super insanely organised with their personal challenges! I thought I was organised, but there are some people who are really organised!
118012 Will get this from my local library when I go home on the 13th!

Really want to read it! And I also want to see the movie!
Dec 01, 2014 04:51AM

118012 Of course, I think it works well! :D

118012 Just another announcement!

We've decided to redesign our icon/banners for 2015, to give the group a fresh look and feel!

If you want to give your opinion on it, please post it in the Suggestions/Improvements thread! We'd love to hear everyone's views on them!
118012 I can't decide what to read for this month!
