1176148 I finally got started on my list this month. I finished Severance today. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. The writing was mostly okay (other than some misused words that a decent editor should have caught), but the characters were mostly undeveloped. The flashbacks were detailed (sometimes too much so), but the post-apocalyptic parts were somewhat lacking. The things that were happening were terrible, but the narrator never seemed to feel the horror you would expect. Also, we did experience a pandemic just 2 years after this book was published, so I've already lived too much of this experience to want to read a book about a fictional one. Oh, well. At least it was decent enough that I finished.

I've started my re-read of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, which is about as different from Severance as you can get. At least I know I like this book since I've read it at least twice before, although not for many years.

I do have return the library book on Saturday and I'm not going to finish. So, it will be a little bit before I finish the book myself."

I had the same problems when I read this book. I did enjoy it, but it took me a while to get through it.

Happy New Year!"

It was a great year. I only had two 5* reads: Project Hail Mary and Letter from a Birmingham Jail, and the latter isn't really a book.

Thanks! I really cut it close this time. If my book was even 1 page longer, I would not have made it.

1176148 Thanks Linette, Carolien, and Alondra. I am very happy with my results. Now I can start fresh with all new challenges.

That series was recommended to me by the author Kevin Hearne when I was talking to him at a book signing. He was right - they are very entertaining.

1176148 I love the Joe Ledger books too, although I'm a little further behind than you. Project Hail Mary was one of my two 5* reads of 2022. I have a few of your other books on my TBR already.

Happy reading!

It was a very fast read. I'm now anxiously awaiting the next book in the series, which doesn't come out until March. I will be pre-ordering my copy.
