She seemed to be able to see into the future more accurately than most sci fi authors.

Thanks. Dumas is one of my favorite authors, and I've wanted to read The Man in the Iron Mask for a long time. It should be excellent. I've owned these classics for a long time, so I thought I should finally get to them in 2024.

I am halfway through the previous book (Shadowmarch), and it is really good. It's a bit slow, but that is normal for his works, and it doesn't bother me.

It's hard to go wrong with Octavia Butler.

I am excited to have a signed copy. The author is super-nice too. He invited everybody to come to a steakhouse with him. If I hadn't been still recovering from a bad cold, I would have been tempted to join them. A couple got engaged at the signing too, which was cute.

From the book description, it sounded like it would parallel US events, but I'll have to wait and see what I think.

1176148 I love The Lies of Locke Lamora and its sequels. I will probably reread them whenever the next book in the series comes out. I've read a couple other books on your list, but they weren't favorites. Sometimes certain books just aren't for me.

Happy reading!

1176148 I finished my 6th book: Babel-17. It was a very thought-provoking book, and I can see why it is considered a science fiction classic. I plan to read other books by this author some day.

I now will really have to scramble since I have less than 5 weeks to finish the last 6. I often read that many books in that timespan, but I am going to have to be much more focused than I normally am. I have been reminding myself to focus on these all year (as can be seen on this thread), but obviously that hasn't worked.

1176148 I've only read 2 from this year's list. I enjoyed Priory of the Orange Tree, but I didn't finish Upgrade. Other people have loved the latter book, so it may have just been me. I was doing it as an audiobook, and there were a lot of tech heavy info-dumps, which I hate.

I hope you enjoy all your selections.

1176148 I have several of these books included in my challenges or have already read them.

Like Alondra, I gave up on the Scarpetta books at some point. I don't remember what the final deal breaker was, though, because it was many years ago. I remember liking the earlier books.

The book on your list I am most excited for is the new Rothfuss.
1176148 This looks like a fun list. I have read a few of her books, and I hope to read more of them at some point in the future.

Thanks. I own almost all these books, and I am really looking forward to finally reading them. It's probably a good thing I'm still scrambling to finish my 2023 list, or I might have a hard time resisting starting these books early.

Thanks. I recall seeing many of these on your list. Some may have ended up on my TBR that way, while others were good reminders of "Hey, I have that book. Maybe I should finally read it."
