4th book finished - Bookplate Special4 stars for this one. It's the 3rd book in a series, and a nice return to Stonehaven. Like most cozy mysteries this was a nice easy read and I'll continue reading the series

I'm considering doing that too
I'm glad I usually worked from home even before Covid. Here employers will no longer have to take "reasonable measures" to ensure social distancing in offices
So in NI we'll be getting rid of covid passes for bars & restaurants (but still needed in nightclubs), nightclubs will re-open and the limits on hospitality (table service, rule of 6) will end... there are still a lot of cases every day
Alondra - I wish places were like that. I've seen places that have been pretty full, even recently. Bill - so far in the UK only England has introduced mandatory vaccines and that's just for care home or frontline NHS staff (I think just frontline... I may be wrong). Some European countries are bringing in vaccine mandates for their citizens.
Desley - it sounds like Nicola Sturgeon has had the right kind of approach. To be honest I think NI, Scotland and Wales have managed it better than England. Although some things could have been done better here (NI)
Desley - I don't mind going to the shops too much if I need to. I don't go for the sake of just looking around. My only issue is if somewhere is crowded and people don't keep their distance.Madeline - we have a similar issue if you look at the UK as whole - NI, Scotland, England and Wales each make their own rules. England didn't go close nightclubs whilst the other 3 countries did. So a lot of people from Scotland and Wales crossed the border into England where nightclubs were open and there were no restrictions in bars, restaurants etc

Our numbers have been dropping in Northern Ireland but the numbers may not be very accurate as there was changes to our testing requirements. Now if you have a positive lateral flow, you don't have to follow up with a PCR. So one of the scientific/medical experts acknowledged that case numbers don't give the best reflection of the situation. We have some restrictions on hospitality and nightclubs are closed. Advice that no more than 3 households should meet in a private home.
To be honest I don't feel very comfortable sitting in restaurants/cafes at the moment. Haven't been to the cinema for over 2 years and no real desire to go at the moment.
I know a lot of people who have had Covid recently and sadly I know/know of a few people who have died from it. Hate airports and flights at the moment and only have been about 3 times since our first lockdown, all for work purposes.
Some people I know seem to have no concept that Covid still exists and behave as if everything was more or less normal.
We seem to be hearing a lot about "learning to live with Covid"
Having looked at this my personal take on it is that with the example of the Kacy Chronicles, they're clearly shown as 4 separate books with individual titles. Books like The Pickwick Papers show as one individual book and to be the best of my knowledge nowadays can only be purchased as one individual book. You can purchase each of the indvidual Kacy Chronicle books separately.
Omnibus editions have pros and cons - if you count it as 1 big book, then it only counts as 1 book read for any challenges based on number of books read rather than 4 books.
As Madeline said the group is for fun and to enjoy challenges and we want our members to enjoy being here :)
I read almost all fiction. Last year I think I read 2 non-fiction books, both about the British Royal Family. So this year I'm going to see if I can manage to read 6 non fiction books. Let's see how this goes!!1: Charles & Camilla: Portrait of a Love Affair 19/02/22
2: The Queen: 70 years of Majestic Style
3: William at 40: The Making of a Modern Monarch 27/06/22
4: The Queen 20/09/2022

It doesn't take much snow for us to grind to a halt here either
