116885 Hope everyone enjoyed their Saturday. Leisurely reading and running once again got in the way of my obligations for the day. I'm such a failure.

116885 Hi everyone, I'm currently just trying to finish the book I meant to finish last night, but ended up passing out from exhaustion.

It's gonna be 95 today in SoCal. I bet you're not jealous, Kim. Probably going to head down to the beach for a bit.

116885 I'm like Hasan, I can shut anything out except music. I have no problem blocking out the TV or Joey haha.

Jessica, hey I don't blame you at all, trust me. I love my class but I am happy they go home at the end of the day and so do I haha. I get both though...the weepy parents and the ones that are like "We've been waiting in the parking lot for thirty minutes, they're driving me crazy today" parents. And I don't blame them a bit.

116885 I've owned the first October Daye book for a while and haven't read it yet. I might have to change that soon. So many books, so little time.

I'm really enjoying Darkhouse, even though it gave me nightmares last night lol.

Speaking of Seanan, doesn't the new Parasitology book come out in November? I can't waaaait. Maybe we should read Parasite for BOTM next month.

116885 By all means! Use it. Live it. Haha.

116885 Yeah, it looks like I'm going to be skipping it as well.

116885 I actually liked the Percy Jackson movies! Lol.

116885 Yeah, I felt the same about Kate. I'm still kind of lost on that one.

116885 Yeah, actually all three of the ones I mentioned were very highly rated UF novels. They just didn't work out for me, haha. I had to re-read my review to remember why I didn't like it. I was so excited about that one! I think that may have been part of it. I built it up in my mind. I just felt like I was the victim of 'info-dump', and that the pages would have been put to better use amping up the intensity.

I mostly just thought it would have been better if she didn't have amnesia at all. I didn't think that's what it would be. I thought it was going to be like...a body-switching thing. Or something extra exciting like that.

116885 I force myself to suffer through them and finish them even if they're terrible. It's a problem that I have. I wish I could stop. I think there's been like...a couple...that I've talked myself out of finishing. Or 'taking a break' from. But yeah. I wish I could DNF more often. The Rook comes to mind...A Discovery of Witches...Written in Red...

116885 Oh yay! I love Shadow. He's one of my all-time favorite characters.

Of course, that book is the THE ONE for me. When people ask what my favorite book is (crazy question, btw), that's the one.

Kim, I recently read this review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I don't like to use one review to write off a book, but it seems to confirm all of our worst fears for this one.

116885 Hey guys, so a book I've been wanting to read for a while, Darkhouse, the first book in Karina Halle's Experiment in Terror series is FREE right now (!)(ebook). Anyone want to read it with me?
Sep 03, 2014 08:16AM

116885 Because we all love him, and we need a place to talk about Neil, his books, and the upcoming TV series.

116885 Oh, Neil is my everything. LOL.

I'm so glad you guys are going to read his books. We definitely need a Neil topic.

I'm struggling this week with teaching and classwork and trying to give sufficient time to my demanding hobbies (reading and running). So, I'm ready for the week to be over.

Also. I saw 'If I Stay' this weekend (based on a YA novel). It was actually a really good movie, and a really decent book. But the sequel. OMG, amazing.
